These specific properties have proved to be advantageous for their versatile biological applications. Herein, we are focusing on synthesis of two ester based oxovanadium complexes, say, bis(butanoicacid-3-oxo-1,1- dimethylethylester)oxovanadium( IV) (1) and bis(dipropan-2-yl-propanedioate)oxovanadium( IV) (2). Complexes were characterized by UV spectroscopy, FTIR studies and Mass spectroscopic analysis. The complexes are assessed for chemical nuclease activity against plasmid pBR322 using gel electrophoresis. Further support towards binding mode is carried out by UV titration using calf thymus DNA. In the present study, Wollastonite was prepared by sol-gel combustion method by using tartaric acid as a fuel for the first time. Calcium nitrate and tetraethyl orthosilicate were taken as the source of calcium and silicate. The obtained product was characterised by FT-IR spectroscopy to identify the characteristic functional groups present in the material and powder X-Ray diffraction technique for the phase identification. The SEM image reveals that the morphology of Wollastonite which was irregular in shape and particles are homogeneous in size. we re s ynthes ize d by c ombust ion method. I ron ni trate (Fe(NO3 )3 .9 H2O) and c obal t nit rate

(Co(NO 3 )2 .6H2O) we re use d as an ox idize rs and g lyc i ne (C2 H5 NO2 ) was used as a fuel for this method.

By c hang ing the ox idant to fuel rat io, the adiabatic te mp erature of the flame and the final product

could be cont rol led. The propert ies of as prepared CoFe2O4 powder we re tho roug hly stud ied to

unders tand the structural and magnetic be havior (using powde r X-ray di ff rac tion, f iel d-emiss ion

s canning e lectron mic roscope with e lectron probe mic ro analysis and vibrati ng sample

magnetomete r). Cobalt fe rrite mag net ic nanopartic les are being used for the biomedica l appl ic at ions.

T he nanopart ic les were found to possess antibacteri al activi ty agains t E. co l i and i t s ho wed the

i nhibit ion at a minimum conce ntration of 50 mg/L.

compos iti on (PVC-P EG-PC-LiClO4 -MgO) : (19-15-50-10-6) exhib it s hig he r conducti vi ty of 6 .034 × 10 –

6 S/c m at room te mpe rature. Te n t ime s e nhance me nt i n the c onductivi ty value was obse rve d. The

t he rmal stabi l ity of t he membra ne was est i mate d throug h TGA anal ys is . T he SEM analysis s hows the

poros ity and connectivi ty of the pores was dete rmine d by the MgO conte nt.

t he rmal calc inat ions at 400 ºC, 600 ºC, 800 ºC and 900 ºC. Amo ng t he m the opt i mum te mpe rature was

found to be 800 º C. T he g raphite (GP) was conve rted in to graphene ox ide (GO) and t ric ompone nt

compos ite of GO-c hitosan-HAP was pre pare d. T he tricompone nt c ompos ite was cha racte ri zed by

t he rmog ravimetric (TG) and di f fe re nt ial thermog ravimetric (DTG) analysis , F ourie r T rans forme d

I nfra red s pectroscopy (FTI R) and X-ray d iff raction (XRD). The compres si ve and te ns ile st re ngth of

t he compos ite was found to be 9 .77 ± 1 .47 MPa and 0 .650 ± 0. 276 MPa res pecti vel y. The c ompress ive

s tre ngth ex hi bi te d by the t ric ompone nt composi te met the require me nt for bone tiss ue e ngi nee ring

(3–10 MPa).

i s incorpo ration of me tal ( Ti) into the nanof ibe r matrix duri ng the e lectrosp inning process itse l f fo r

t he e nhance me nt of wate r s pl i tt ing c apacity. The reby, t he bonding of the me ta l with the nanofibe r

polyme r matrix was stro nge r than obt ai ned throug h any othe r process. T his st rength is di rectly

foc used towa rds the better ef f ic ie nc y in wate r t reatme nt appl ic at ions. The fabricated nanof ibe r mat

was c haracte rized using FTI R-AT R, SEM-EDAX and XRD tec hniques.

under an applie d static mag netic f ie ld was stud ied by Vibrational Sample Mag netomete r (VSM). The

room tempe rature mag net izat ion res ul ts re vealed a fe rrom ag net ic be havi our for t he EDACCo crystal.

T he mechanica l prope rt ies o f c rystal we re evaluate d by mec hanic al testing whic h re veals ce rtain

mechanic al characte rist ics. T he Vic ke rs hardness number (H v) was found to inc rease s wi th the

i nc re ase in load and Meye r’ s index number ‘n’ was calc ulated from H v s hows mate rial fal l s in sof t

materi al c ategory. Us ing W ooste r’ s e mpirica l re lati on, the e last ic st i ffnes s constant (C1 1 ) has bee n

calculate d from Vic ke rs hardness values.

ne wly formed gold nanopa rtic les were f ound to be stab le . UV-Vis spectrum reveals the SP R λλλλ ma x at

538 nm. X-Ray diff ract i on me as ure me nt c learly re ve als that the ne wly forme d gold nanopart ic les are

c rystall ine i n nature. It is inte rest ing that the ne wly synt he si zed g old nanopartic les corroborate d

cytotoxic ef fect in MCF-7 cel l li nes.

s odium si l ic ate . Final ly, the gel was take n and re acted with 6 M H2 SO4 t o precipitate s il ica. The

prec ip itate d samples we re c ha racteri zed by XRD and t he mo rphol ogy was studie d by AFM analysis .

T he s ilic a c oatings re prese nt a pro mising approach for the deve lopme nt of a c orros ion protec tive

s urface because of i ts c hemic al ine rtne ss, barrie r prope rt ies. Si l ica coat ings we re deve lope d on mild

s teel s ubstrates by dip coat i ng and its e lectroc he mic al be havior has bee n e valuated by the Tafel

extrapolat ion method and EI S analysis us ing 3 .5% sodium c hloride sol ut ion as e lectro lytes. F rom the

Abstract : Polyme r electrol yte membrane c omp rising poly(v inyl c hloride) P VC and poly(ethyle ne

g lyc ol) PEG b le nd as matri x, lithium pe r c hloride (LiClO 4 ) as dopant sal t and propyle ne carbonate

(PC) as plast ic ize r was prepared by solut ion casting method. T he nanosize d ZnO part ic les we re

s ynthes ized throug h nove l sol id state mil l ing and ca lc ination of zinc acetate and c i t ric acid powders.

T he wt% of synthes ized partic les we re s yste matic al ly varied and inc orporate d as f il le r in P VC-P EG

polyme r matrix to study it s inf luence on t he c onductivi ty of polyme r electrol ytes. The f ilms we re

s ubjected to XRD and AC impedance analysis i n the f reque ncy range 50–100 KHz at room

tempe rature. T he analysis s hows stro ng inf lue nce of fi lle r partic les on the ionic c onduct ivity of the

me mbra nes. The c onductivi ty profi le features t wo maxima occurring at 0. 5 wt% and at 4 wt% of

f ille r. The 4 wt% fil le r adde d me mbra ne ex hi bi ts 10 times e nhanceme nt in the conduct ivity value tha n

t he f i lle r f ree electrol yte membra ne. The e nhanceme nt i n the c onduct ivity was examined throug h

s urface morphol ogical (SEM) studies.

obta ine d powde r was cha rac te rized by F T-I R, XRD and SEM analysis . It was found that the s ol -ge l

s pin coat ings have s hown excel le nt the rmal stab il i ty, ox idation contro l and enha nce d corros ion

resis tance on me ta l s ubstrates. The abi l ity to passivate t he metal s ubst rates duri ng coat ing has

pronounce d effect on c orros ion res istance. T he corrosion resis tance be havior of the c oat ings was

dete rmine d by (1) ope n-circ uit potential ve rs us t ime of expos ure, (2 ) e lectroc hemic al impe dance

Vic ke r’s mic ro hardness test has c arried out in orde r to unde rstand the mec hanic a l propert ies of the

g ro wn c rystal. T he Meye r’s index number s hows the mate ria l belong to soft categ ory. The c rys tal

s urface has analyzed by che mical etc hing and atomic force mic ros copy (AFM). The etc hing study

re veals the g rowth patte rn and d islocations prese nt in the grown c rysta l. T he ampl itude paramete rs

me as ure d f rom AFM studies he lps to analyze t he s urface topography of the g rown c rystal . The

e miss ion spectrum has rec orded betwee n 540–720 nm. The broad e mission band appe ared in the

reg ion 552–567 nm s ho ws the bl ue e mission in t he crystal.

carrie d out for the confirmat ion of format ion of nanopartic les. Powde r XRD study was done to

confirm the c rystal s t ructure and De bye-Sc herre r formula was use d to f ind out the ave rage partic le

s ize f rom the broade ni ng of XRD pea ks. T he ave rage part ic le size is found to less than 5 nm. F T-I R

s pectroscopy was pe rformed to know the functional groups of the g rown nanopartic les. From the

obse rve d pe a ks, it was conf irmed that the CdS nanopartic les we re c appe d by L-a lanine.

dic hlorome thane, ethyl acet ate , te trahydrofuran and di methyl formamide. T he weig ht ave rage

molec ular weight of t he ol igome r i s 3455 . UV abs orpti on (UV-Vis) and photol umi nesce nce ( PL )

e miss ion wave lengths of (Q C-OP V) have a sig nif ic ant b lue s hift (410 and 450 nm) due to good

e lectronic deloca l ization of the conj ugated seg me nts of the corresponding ol igome r. T he res ul t

i ndic ates that QC-OPV has excel le nt optoelectronic prope rties.

we re wel l depos ite d on the s urf ace of BFO partic les. UV-Visible abs orpt ion s tudies re vealed that the

s ensit ization of B FO with nanosc ale Ag has sig ni f icantly enhance d its v is ible l ig ht abs orption and

s ubseque nt photoc atalyt ic activi ties. T he res ult s reporte d he re s uggest that the s urface plas mo n

res onance ( SP R), whic h is manifested on the nanoscale si l ve r, e nhanced the quantum yie ld of photo-

gene rate d e lectron- t ransfe r processes by boost ing up the charge separat ion i n BFO and by pro moting

t he s hutt le e lectrons to the interf ace of c atalyst-dye and the reby effective ly degraded the dye

molec ules .

Abstract : T he bas ic a im of this st udy is to prese nt t he ro om te mpe rature synthesis of ZnSe thin fil m

by varying doping conce ntration of se le ni um oxi de on ITO plate us i ng a rel at ive ly simple and low c os t

t radit ional e lectrodeposi t ion tec hnique. X-Ray di f f rac t ion c onf irms the format ion of s ing le c ubic

ZnSe phase with a preferre d orie ntation along (111) direct ion with an average value of the c rys ta ll i te

s ize around 37 nm. Optical s tudies re veal a t ra ns mittance above 80% for lo wer SeO 2 conce ntration (<

3% ) the n drop up to 60% for hig he r c once ntrat ion (> 5%) with an e nerg y bandg ap around 2 .75 eV.

P hotoluminescence anal ys is s hows the prese nce of mainly 2 bands, narrow PL band ce nte red at 487

nm and broad photoemiss ion band cente red at 531 nm. Scanning e lectron mic roscopy obse rvations

re veal t he format ion of dense nanostruc ture d fil ms.

Synthesis and characterization of ZnO and Al2O3 nanoparticles and their

Abstract : P rese nt work desc ribes the s ynthes is of zinc ox ide (ZnO) and alumi num oxide ( Al2O 3 )

nanopart ic les (NPs) by si mple c he mic al reduc tion method . The s ynthes ize d NPs we re c haracte rize d

using XRD, AFM and SEM. Both ZnO and Al2O3 NPs we re used in the re me diation stud ies to re move

c hromium( VI ) f rom aque ous solut ion. Vari ous process parameters s uc h as pH, v/ m rati o, contact t ime,

i ni tial c once nt rat i on of ads orbate we re e valuate d to achie ve opt imum re moval ef f ic ie nc y of

c hromium. T he obt ai ned res ul ts s howe d that both the NPs acte d as pote ntial ads orbe nts i n the

re moval of c hro mium from aqueous so lution; maximum re moval was see n at pH 5 . T he c ontact t i me

require d to ac hie ve the equi li brium was 60 mi n for ZnO and 95 min for Al2O3 . Both the NPs

de monstrate d good adsorpt ion c apacity agains t the c once ntration of adsorbate thri ce. Optimizat ion of

formed metal be nzoate di hydra zinate complexes were dec ompos ed at di ff ere nt te mpe ratures to yie ld

t he corres ponding metal oxides. The s amples we re c hara cte rize d by FT- I R, TGA and DSC, powde r

XRD, DRS, SEM and E DAX. T hermal analys is (TGA and DSC) re ve ale d the decomposi ti on path of

t he metal be nzoate dihydra zinate complexes. XRD analysis conf i rms the polyc rystal line nature of

s amples with pure phase formation. SEM analysis s hows that the formed me ta l ox ide po wde rs are

s phe rica l partic les. EDX c onfirmed the presence of 7 . 5 wt.% of ni troge n in the c ubic phase ZnT iO3 .

T he optic al stud ies we re carrie d by rec ord ing d iff use reflectance s pectra. Us i ng Tauc’s re latio n

( ααααhνννν )n = A (hνννν – Eg ) optical bandg ap for ni troge n dope d ZnTiO 3 was found to be 3 .91 eV.

K 0 .5CoO2 usi ng KOH as a flux at a te mpe rature of 400 ºC. The products we re characte rize d by

po wde r X-ray diff ract ion (XRD), F ouri er t ra nsforme r infrared s pectrosc opy (FTI R), Scanning

e lectron mic roscope (SEM) and UV-Vis ib le d iffuse reflectance spectrosc opy (DRS). X-Ray di ff ractio n

patte rn c onf irme d the formation of s ing le phase K 0 . 5CoO2 . SEM image i nd ic ates the obtained s amples

are dif fuse d mic ro porous sphe re li ke morpholog y and i t s grai n si ze wi l l be in the range of 100–300

nm. Optic al prope rties of K 0 . 5CoO2 ce ramic s hows an e ne rgy band gap in the range of 2 .50 eV. The

die lectric studies o f laye re d K 0 . 5CoO2 have AC-c onductiv i ty obse rve d for the f re quenc y range from 50

Hz to 5 M Hz and als o as the function of te mpe rature f rom roo m te mperature to 623 K indic ates the

s pace charge polarizat ion c ontributes the conduct ion mec hanism.
