Assessment Centers

• ‘A method for assessing aptitude and performance; applied to a group of participants by trained assessors using various aptitude diagnostic processes in order to obtain information about applicants' abilities or development potential.’

• An assessment centre is a process where candidates are assessed to determine their suitability for specific types of employment, especially management or military command.

History

• German Army introduced Assessment techniques in 1930.• This was for selection of officers• Appointed Psychologist Max Simoniet who introduced

leadership test.• Assessment centres were created in World War II.• British Army recognized Max’s work and created there own

ACs with improvements.• And then US Army and Intelligences opted for the same

with some upgrades.

• Preliminary Test (my term “Initial knockouts”)• Written/computer based test (on spot result announcement)• Full medical• Interviews

• ISSB Test (4 days at ISSB center)• Written test (day 1)• Individual task & Group task (day 2 / leader less and leader based)• Indoor Situation analysis and Group discussion (day 3/ leader less)• Interviews (day 4)
