PI]RPOSE To improve student outcomes through the implementation of an accurate and comprehensive process, that is planned and systematic in the gathering and distribution of information about student learning and achievement. OBJECTIVES o To provide: o the basis for whole school curriculum evaluation and continued curriculum improvement o ongoing assessments to allow students to reflect on and confirm what they have learnt and to find out where improvement is required o the school with information on the achievement of groups of students, and individual students o parentVguardians with accurate, organised information about their child's progress o To identify directions for planning, by providing information about students' future leaming needs o To develop a sense of partnership and responsibility for leaming between parents/guardians, teachers and students GI]IDELII\ES FOR IMPLEMENTATION o Assessment and Reporting will be in line with the school's Teaching and Irarning Policy and DEECD requirements as set out in the e5 Framework, Cuniculum Guidelines, Victorian Essential Lrarning Standards, (VElS/Australian Curriculum, and the Principles of Irarning and Teaching, (PoLT). e A wide range of assessment tasks will be used where appropriate by teachers to ensure that different needs and learning styles are catered for when assessing students. . Common assessment tasks will be built into program planning atyear levels. o Moderation procedures will be applied to facilitate balanced judgements of students' performance. . Ongoing opportunities will be provided for students to reflect on their learning and establish personal goals for further achievement. o Two formal written reports will be provided to parents/guardians annually giving information on their child's progress. . Modified report forms for identified students will be developed as required. o Students for whom English is an additional language, and who are unable to be assessed against the current curriculum in English, will have their progress reported in keeping with English as an Additional Language (EAL) Guidelines. o Each year parents/guardians and students will be given the opportunity to attend at least one formal interview focusing on their child's progress and identified areas for further development. o Additional interviews between parents/guardians and teachers will be organised as required. . Individual I-earning Plans (ILP) for identified students will be provided as required. o Student Support Groups (SSG) for students with disabilities, will meet on a regular basis to assess and monitor individual student progress. o The School Annual Report will include an overview of student achievements in curriculum areas as required byDEECD. o School Irvel Reports will be used to reflect on current program effectiveness and to inform the development of Annual Implementation Plans. EVALUATION Evaluation of this policy will be carried out by the leadership Group, as part of the Policy Committee's cyclic review process in three years time, or beforehand if a significant issue arises.
