ASK KAKAMEGA SHOW 2016
Sugar Research Institute under the structure of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research
Organization (KALRO) is mandated to conduct research and development of appropriate
production technologies and services for sustainable and enhanced production of sugarcane.
SRI is committed to undertake outreach activities to disseminate new sugarcane production
technologies through show exhibitions in the country. SRI jointly with other four research
institutes under KALRO participated in ASK Kakamega show 2016 situated in Kakamega
county.
The main objective was to demonstrate quality research, new technologies, service delivery and
cost effective ways of sugarcane production in line with the theme which was “Enhancing
Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth”
The show exhibition was held from 15th
to 18th
June 2016 with 16th
June 2016 being the judging
day. The Institutes successfully excelled in four classes namely;
1st Best Agricultural based statutory Board Stand
1st Best stand that interprets current show theme
2nd
Best stand in Research Development
2nd
Best large Government stand
The show was officially opened on 17th
June 2016 by the guest of honour, The Governor Busia
County Hon. Sos Peter Ojamong who also toured the KALRO stand among other stands.
Other guests who toured the stand were the CEC Trade and CEC Agriculture both of Kakamega
County
RECEPTION
At the reception the guests and stakeholders were received and taken through the vision, mission
and the core values of KALRO as an organization
