ASIST CONNECTING WHAT MAKES ASIST DIFFERENT? Participants overcome stigma and societal taboos by talking freely and openly about their attitudes about suicide. Participants explore, express, identify and examine their beliefs about suicide and life-assisting suicide first aid. UNDERSTANDING This section introduces participants to the Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model. PAL is designed to meet the needs of a person-at-risk by specific life assisting steps to address those needs. ASSISTING The goal of this section is to help participants feel more ready, willing and able to help a person-at-risk. Participants will be able to combine their attitudes, knowledge & helping skills to provide suicide first aid. Participants will use PAL to help a person-at-risk through a scenario demonstration. THE GOAL OF THE WORKSHOP IS TO ENHANCE A CAREGIVER'S ABILITY TO ASSIST A PERSON-AT-RISK.
