    Andres Bonifacio

    - He founded a secret revolutionary societycalled Katipunan.

    Another revolutionary leader rose whileBonifacio losing battle with the Spaniards,it was Emilio Aguinaldo who almostsubdued the Spaniards in Cavite.

    In December1897- a peace agreementbetween the Spaniards and Aguinaldotook place in Biak- na- Bato.

    -It provided that the Spanish government would

    institute fundamental reforms and grant

    general amnesty from the revels and pay

    indemnity.

    - On the other hand, Aguinaldo left Philippines

    and be exiled in Hongkong. It was at this point

    that Aguinaldo sought help of the Americans.

    - The American fleet underAdmiral

    George Dewey annihilated to Spanish

    armada at Manila Bay.- The Filipinos fought side by side with

    the Americans hoping that America

    will give them their long cherishedindependence.

    Treaty of Paris

    -was signed, transferring Philippines to the

    United States. The US government was

    determined to keep the Philippines; but a war

    with the Americans was inevitable.

    February 1899- a Filipino soldier was shot to

    death triggers Filipino to put war on America.

    1901- Aguinaldo was captured and theresistance movement surrendered to the

    Americans one by one.
