Conference OverviewThe Asian Chief Audit Executives Leadership Forum shall be held for the first time in Colombo, Sri Lanka on the 1st of June 2015 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo. The Forum will be structured with several featured talks such as the global perspective on the future development of the IA profession, recent developments in Governance, Risk and Control and the ever increasing demand and opportunities for the Internal Audit Profession.

There will be panel discussions that focus on the strategic issues as well as opportunities for the next generation CAE’s such as how to build effective board engagement, address increasing regulatory risks, and audit risk culture and the related Asian-specific challenges, and most importantly grooming needed to be above the rest. The theme of this year’s Annual Conference is “Creating Infinite Possibilities".

To build the best team, a broad range of skills and expertise, and an ongoing professional development are crucial to the formation and maintenance of an effective internal audit function, Essential elements include in-depth knowledge; skills for implementing and improving processes both in financial and operational areas; and strong communication and presentation capabilities.

As such the 2105 CAE Forum; The topics this year will cover a broad range of interests including insight into areas for change in the future IA function, new tools and methodologies for auditors of the future, emerging IT security risks, future career models for IA professionals and soft skills required to build effective engagement with business units, all linked to the umbrella theme of “Creating Infinite Possibilities".

SpeakersDr. Harsha de SilvaDr. Harsha is currently the Deputy Minister of Policy Planning, Economic Affairs, Child, Youth and Cultural Affairs of the Government of Sri Lanka. He is responsible for development of policies to introduce a social market economy to Sri Lanka. Educated at the prestigious Royal College Colombo, he gained his BS in Business Management from Truman State University in 1988 and went on to complete his MA and PhD in Economics at the University of Missouri in 1993. He has also participated for an executive program on evaluating social programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006 as an Eisenhower Fellow. Prior to joining politics, his career ranged from development banker, international consultant economist and successful entrepreneur. A popular media personality in Sri Lanka, Dr. de Silva co-founded Survey and Market Research Team (SMART) as Sri Lankas’ largest marketing research team with 140 employees. He founded a not-for-profit called Govi Gnana Seva (GGS) which is currently the main source of wholesale agricultural market prices in Sri Lanka.

Attila EmamAttila is the Group Head of Risk and Government Relations of Air Asia where his responsible for enterprise risk management and government affairs for Malaysia and region, ASEAN affairs, group insurance. He was Educated at the London School of Economics Political Science and obtained his MSC from the Birbeck Universtity of London. He started off his career as an Economist at the Bank of Negara Malaysia & in 1993 took up office as the General Manager, Strategy and Development, and Head, Risk Management at the Securities Commission Malaysia where he pioneered in areas such as Strategic risk assessment, systemic risk, regulatory reform, empirical policy analysis, horizon-scanning, scenario analysis & business continuity.

Ranjit Singh

Ranjit is the Managing Director of Columbus Advisory Sdn Bhd, a company specialising in internal audit, risk management, forensic accounting and BCM advisory. He was a partner of one of the "big four" international accounting firms, where he pioneered the risk, internal audit and forensic accounting, practices. Ranjit holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is the former Vice President of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Malaysia. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Malaysian and Australian Certified Public Accountants, and an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Ranjit has spoken at various conferences and completed risk management projects at more than 100 companies involved in various industries. He also led the preparation of BCP for the recently held 2011 IIA International Conference including preparing and executing a detailed crises management plan. He has a truly international perspective as he has led assignments in more than 30 countries.

Thivanka Jayasinghe

Thivanka is an assurance Partner of PwC Sri Lanka mainly leading the internal audit practice. He services more than a 25 audit committees. He is a member of CA Sri Lanka, CIMA UK, CMA SL and AAT SL. He joined PWC after working at another Big 4 firm in the Bahamas where he was an associate director in the restructuring practice group. He has more than 17 years experience in audit, accounting, restructuring and other advisory services covering varied jurisdictions. Thivanka was also an accountant at Dipped Products PLC a leading manufacturer of rubber gloves in the world.

Dananjaya is the World Champion of Public Speaking - 2014 conferred by Toastmasters International. He is both a passionate speaker and a committed Human Resource Development specialist. He is amongst a handful of HRD consultants in the Asia-Pacific region that specializes in Performance Prediction, Profiling based Recruitment and Rapid Competency Development in adults. Today he works closely with select organizations that value innovative, results-based HRD solutions to specialized organizational challenges.

Dananjaya has pioneered several adult learning and performance prediction models that are currently being used by global organizations to meet specific challenges in training, recruitment and performance management. Narendra K Aneja Narendra is the Chief Executive of Aneja Associates, India. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certification in Risk Management Assurance and holds an MBA from the Wharton Business School. He is a Gold Medalist (ICWA), a Tata Scholar and was ranked on the Director’s List at Wharton School (1978). He is a past national President of The Institute of Internal Auditors of India. He is on the Advocacy Board of the Bharti Institute of Public Policy and the Global Advocacy Committee of IIA Inc. He is the current President of Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (ACIIA). Naren, as he is fondly called, has made presentations at many international conferences in India, United States, Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Qatar and Thailand. Naren has over 30 years of experience in GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance assignments) and management consultancy. Naren is the managing partner of Aneja Associates employing about 350 professionals. The Firm conducts governance studies, risk assessments, management and operational audits of over 200 companies, in India and abroad.

Prof. Lakshman R Watawala,Prof. Lakshman currently serves on the Audit committee of Lanka IOC & Richard Peiris & Company. He was the former Chairman and Director General of the Board of Investment (BoI) Sri Lanka, The former Chairman and Director General of Greater Colombo Economic Commission in 1991 and also a former Chairman of People's Bank and People's Merchant Bank, State Mining and Minerals Development Corporation and the Ceylon Leather Products Corporation.He has held office as the President of Sri Lanka Korea Economic Cooperation committee and committee Member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.Educated at S.
