Message From Organising Chairman of APCIO 2019
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of Malaysian Society of Interventional Radiology (MYSIR) and Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Oncology (APSIO), I am pleased to invite you to participate in our upcoming 6th Asia-Pacific Congress of Interventional Oncology 2019 and 2nd Multidisciplinary Oncology Symposium Malaysia which will be held from the 2nd to 5th October 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The theme of the conference is entitled “Interventional Therapy in Modern Oncology: Technological Integration Beyond Boundaries”. This congress approach is multidisciplinary sharing encompassing 6 subspecialties. To enhance our congress, there will be intersociety collaborations with associations such as Society of Interventional Oncology (SIO), Cardio-vascular Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE), Asia-Pacific Association of Image-Guided Therapy in Oncology (APAITO), Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR), Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Expert Association (APPLE), Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and Malaysian Oncology Society and many more.
On the premise that the best-case management fundamentally comprises a mix of the latest technologies, accurate diagnosis, appropriate and correct treatment regime and most importantly, an empathetic as well as humanistic approach to patient care, APCIO 2019 and 2nd MOSM, aim to establish a regular platform in the continual improvement of medical expertise as well as ethical and best medical practices in oncological patient care delivery.
There will be over 100 world renowned international faculties and 50 national speakers from regionally renowned institutions, sharing their skills, knowledge and insight into case management and presenting the latest developments in the oncological fields. Live case transmission is among the highlight of the event. Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), Colorectal Carcinoma (CRC), Lung Cancers, Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma), Neuroendocrine Cancer (NET), Breast and Gynaecological Cancers are among the seven major cancers profiled in the event.
On the 2nd October 2019, pre-congress day, there will be 3 workshops available for delegates to choose from which are Masterclass in TACE, Masterclass in Tumour Ablation and Masterclass in Pain Management. The workshops will feature technical learning, live cases teaching and didactic lectures.
On the 3rd to 5th October 2019, in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, we will have 200 over focused lectures, multidisciplinary board symposia, 6 lunch symposiums, morning technical workshops, device demonstrations, simulated case symposia, tea/booth lectures, company specific workshops and 4 live cases transmission highlighting state-of-the-art interventional oncological and diagnostic procedures.
With the aim of Technological Integration in Oncology Beyond Boundaries, our delegates can expect to take away from this congress knowledge on new and effective treatment technologies in the minimally invasive therapy, targeted molecular drugs, updates on immunotherapy, new surgical advances in oncology, state-of-art radiation therapy, new generation of pathology on the immunohistochemistry and molecular profiling, and various new interventional options. Our goal is to give delegates information that they can take back and apply in their practice and optimize the treatment choices they can offer to patients. In particular, the Masterclass in TACE will highlight the case mix management and stratification in interventional management of liver cancer and metastatic disease. This is the 4th teaching Masterclass and is one of the most popular and educational popular workshops which is highly recommended to young interventional radiologists.
We invite our colleagues to share their work and research through free paper oral presentations and live e-poster presentation sessions. Call for abstracts is now open.
All congresses are not only about scientific meeting. We hope that our delegates will take the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and use this opportunity to build new networks and strengthen existing friendships with colleagues both national and international.
Regards,
Dr Alex Tang FRCROrganising Chairman of 6th APCIO and 2nd MOSM 2019President of MYSIR
