PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I am excited about the year we are having with San Joaquin ASHRAE so far. Just
a few of the highlights are, a record setting golf tournament, a
couple of YEA social events, updated our bylaws, a visit by
the Society President, getting our taxes turned in on time,
sending some students to Chicago and many more.
I can’t thank the leadership enough for all the hard work and
input at various levels. 2018 will bring more opportunities for
our chapter to increase our visibility and impact our members in positive ways.
This next year, look out for an opportunity to interact and support our chapter.
-Joelon

(L to R) Dustin Russell, Diego Mora, Christian Escalera (CSUF Student Chapter Members), and ASHRAE Society President, Bjarne Olesen at the December SJV Chapter Meeting.
December’s “ASHRAE Downtown” YEA / Student Activities / Membership Promotion event was awesome! The dinner meeting was held at the Pacific Southwest Building, 3rd Floor, Workspace.
More than 30 chapter and student members attended, along with special guest, ASHRAE Society President, Bjarne Olesen, Ph.D., Fellow ASHRAE. Dr. Olesen discussed his theme of “Extending our global community, acknowledging our world‐wide interconnectedness, and embracing our shared needs and objectives.” Olesen said, “The technical guid‐ance we produce for all members is made stronger by global diversity.”
Craig Scharton, Interim President/CEO of The Downtown Fresno Partnership, also shared the history of Fulton Mall’s creation to the recent revitalization and his experience with multiple redevelopment projects in Fresno and other communities. Attendees were also treated to a brief walking tour of the mall.
Kudos and thank you to Sophia Nyberg and all the team for coordinating this event.
