ASHRAE Student Chapter Formation
We complete the first quarter of the present year and come out with the second News Letter of AIC. During the last 3 months we
had lot of activities under Student Chapter. There was Student Chapter formations at Poornima Engg. college, Jaipur and Amity
University, Noida, Technical presentations were carried out at the educational institutes and during the convention of the
Institute of Energy Auditors (IAEMP) at Delhi, ASHRAE Jaipur section was installed who also had their 1st society meeting during
this period. Two technical workshops were organized at AIC office which was well attended.
There was participation of two international events i.e. RAL CRC Istanbul and Regional Membership Promotion Training
programme at Manila. The specific reports of all these events are covered in the News Letter. In the present quarter further
technical workshops are being planned and also planning for the AIC Tech. event on 16/1/16. Further activities on Student
Chapter and Membership promotion will be taken up.
ASHRAE membership promotion and
advocacy was held on 26th Aug.,
2015 at Amity University, Noida. The
event was organised with help of Dr.
Umesh Kumar Vates. Presentation on
Basic of Aircondit ioning and
Refrigeration was made by Dr.
Rajinder Singh and Mr. U S Jadon
gave presentation on Automotive
Airconditioning. The event was
attended by over 100 student and faculty members. Prof. Vivek Kumar ,
HOD Mech. Dept. also attended the function and expressed that student
chapter will be formed at the institution.
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Day, 17th Sept.,
2015 the department of Mechanical and Automation
Engineering, ASET organized Inaugural ceremony of
ASHRAE Chapter & Seminar on “Air-conditioning
equipment design and Energy savings in Green
Building using Insulation”. The honored guests were
felicitated by Prof. Abhay Bansal- Jt. Acting Head, ASET
and Prof. Vivek Kumar, HOD, MAE, ASET. Student
members and faculty advisor Dr Umesh Kumar Vates
were given certificates during the event. This event
helped the faculty members and students to remain
connected with the latest developments and trends in
this field. Expert talks by distinguished guests were
held. They shared their thoughts and ideas to inspire
the students. Prof. Vivek Kumar, Head of the
Department, Mechanical and Automation
Engineering and Mr Shyamal Samant, Associate
Professor, MAE welcomed the distinguished guests and
participants to the event. Prof. Abhay Bansal, Jt. Acting
Head, Amity School of Engineering and Technology
congratulated the MAE department for opening the
ASHRAE chapter at Amity University. He emphasized
the importance of students joining the professional
bodies like ASHARE. The Industry Guests delivered
expert talks to inspire the students. Dr. Rajinder Singh,
President, ASHRAE, India, chapter delivered an
excellent talk on applied psychometric processes
involved in designing of air conditioning equipment,
Prof. U.S.Jadon, Co chair student activity, ASHRAE,
India, chapter delivered a talk on vapor compression
refrigeration system and its applications and Mr.
K.K.Mitra, President Elec. ASHRAE, India chapter
delivered an excellent talk on Energy savings in Green
Building using Insulation. Immense energy savings
(around 30%) can be achieved through proper
insulation. Dr. Umesh Kumar Vates, (Assistant
Professor-III) MAE Department proposed a vote of
thanks to distinguished guests and all the participants
for the event. The students from 3rd and 4th year
B.Tech. (MAE) and faculty members Mr Sumit Sharma,
Mr Shubham Sharma, Mr Priyank Srivastava, Ms
Sheelam, Mr Vipin Kaushik participated in the event.

“American Society of
Heating Refrigerating and
A i r - c o n d i t i o n i n g
Engineers” (ASHRAE) on
Aug 1, 2015. Poornima College of Engineering became the first college of
Rajasthan to open an ASHRAE Student Chapter. The main objective of this
student chapter is to make the students and faculties acquainted with
Advances in Refrigeration, High Performance Buildings, HVAC design etc.
The occasion witnessed the presence of eminent speakers Dr. Om Prakash
Sharma, Director, PCE, Mr. K K Mitra, President Elect. ASHRAE India
Chapter & Vice President, Lloyd Insulations (India) LTD, Mr. U S Jadon,
Chair Student Activities ASHRAE India Chapter, Mr. Dinesh Rawat,
Coordinator ASHRAE India and Mr. Rahul Singhi, Assistant Director, PF
along with the faculty members of Mechanical Department, PCE. The
program was started by lamp lighting ceremony followed by Introduction of
Poornima Foundation from Mr. Rahul Singhi, Assistant Director, PF . Dr. Om
Prakash Sharma while addressing the gathering by his opening remarks,
emphasized on advancement of the arts and sciences of heating,
ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating. He further added that need
from young technocrats is to serve the humanity and promote resources for
sustainable world. Mr. K K Mitra delivered the lecture on 'Thermal Insulation
System for Energy Efficient Building'. Insulation acts as a barrier to heat loss
and heat gain, particularly in roofs and ceilings, walls and floors. In many
homes insulation is the most practical and cost effective way to make a
house more energy efficient, keeping it cooler in summer and warmer in
winter and saving up to 30 per cent in heating and cooling bills. In addition,
insulation may reduce condensation in the home. Mr. U S Jadon delivered
the lecture on “Basic of Air-conditioning and Refrigeration” He presented
an overview on simple vapour compression cycle, working of refrigerator
and air-conditioner. On behalf of Poornima College of Engineering, Jaipur,
Dr. Om Prakash Sharma, Mr. Rahul Singhi, Assistant Director, PF, Prof DS
Kumani, Mr Shailendra Kasera accepted the Charter of ASHRAE student
chapter from Mr. K K Mitra and Mr. Dinesh Rawat. Mr Shailendra Kasera
delivered the Vote of Thanks. More than 350 students from Civil &
Mechanical Department attended and witnessed the one day seminar.

Report on RAL CRC, Istanbul RAL CRC 2015 was held from 2nd to 4th October, 2015 at members. Ms. Rhiannon Mastercon, Assit Manager, Manager membership took participants through ASHRAE membership formats available online and explained how to work with the membership data available.
