Assessment and progress inlearning is an ongoing processthat involves the teacher andthe students continuously.
Developing and applyingliteracy skills through reading, writing, spelling, speaking andlistening are all aspects oflearning for students. Inmathematics the skills andlanguage that is learnt andapplied is also monitored forprogress and understanding.Teachers develop tasks and
experiences explicitly teachskills that support the studentsin their learning. The studentsare shown and have theknowledge and skills clearlyexplained and supported.Teachers assessments can bethrough observation, assessment tasks, and tests.Teachers will be monitoringthe students ability as a learner
in a variety of skills. Teachersare in the midst of workingthrough assessments, and thestudents progress to completethe first half of the yearreports. These reports give anindication of the achievementthe students have made, thework that can be done toimprove the students learning, and future goals for learning
for the second half of the year.
School will be closed on Friday8th June for Report WritingDay.
Our focus for this term is to do
our personal best as learners.

Walk Safely to School Day
(WSTSD) is an annual, nationalevent when all Primary Schoolchildren will be encouraged towalk and commute safely toschool. It is a Community Eventseeking to promote Road Safety,Health, Public Transport andthe Environment.
Experts agree children need anabsolute minimum of 60
minutes of moderate tovigorous exercise each andevery day and the more timespent being active, the betteroff theyll be. For manychildren the 60 minuteminimum can be achieved bysimply getting off the bus a fewstops earlier and walking therest of the way to and fromschool or walking to the shops
or to a friends place. Andwalking with children can helpparents achieve the minimum30 minutes of exercise that isrecommended for Australianadults each day. Computer timeor sedentary activity likewatching TV should be limitedto a maximum of two hours aday (unless its educational i.e.for homework or at school).

Seeking Silent Auction and Trivia Night Donations! This years Silent Auction and Trivia Night will be held Saturday, June 16th. Ourlargest fundraiser of the year, this event also provides an opportunity for funand community building.
Money raised from this event allows us to increase the resources available toour school and to improve the quality of education offered to our students. Last
year the almost $7,000 raised went towards supporting the schools music program. This yearmonies raised will support the schools literacy goals, including support for the reading recoveryprogram.
Integral to the success of this event has been the support of our business friends. This yearbusinesses can support the event in two ways:
1) Donate an item for the event. This includes items for the silent auction, raffles on thenight and mystery envelopes.2) Advertise in the Auction Catalogue.
If you work for or own a local business, please consider supporting us in one of the ways listedabove. You can pick up an information packet from the FOA board outside the staff office, or sendan email to [email protected] to request an information packet.
You can also assist us by dropping off information packets at local businesses. There is a list of localbusinesses we are targeting on the FOA board outside the staff office. Simply list your name bybusinesses you are willing to drop the information packet off at and take the required number ofpackets.
