We welcome to Ashby StephaniePritchard who has been appointedas the teacher for grade 5/6 tillthe end of the year. NatalieBiscan is now on Family Leave

and Stephanie Pritchard will bethe grade 5/6 teacher, her class isnow 5/6P.

Information details such as homephone numbers, change ofaddress need to be updatedregularly as in the case of anemergency or illness at school thecontact details need to current sothat contact can be made. Could

    parent please forward any change

of address and in particularchange of phone number to theschool.

Enrolment details usually includeaddress and phone number butalso family occupation. Thereason that family occupationdetails are collected is that there isan index called the School FamilyOccupation index (SFO). Basedon the information the EducationDepartment receives about AshbyPrimary School written in theenrolment forms a certainamount of funding is given to theschool. Accurate informationabout occupation is reallyimportant because it can mean adifference in quite a considerableamount of money that can bedirected towards the school.

So if the occupation of parents hasnot changed in the past year thenthis information will remain the

same, but if the occupationsituation has changed thisinformation needs to be alteredand this will have an impact onthe SFO index. Our school has an

index which is borderline andinaccurate information can meanthat the school misses out on theSFO funding. Could I ask parentsto please note if the change ofoccupation has occurred, forexample, different occupation orbeing unemployed, that thisinformation be filled out on theslip located on the last page andsent back to school.

There will be a working bee onSunday 31st July at 10.00 -12.00am to work on the sand pitin the Junior Playground. Thiswill involve weeding around thecastle area, and shifting mulch.

Help Ashby just by Buying your Groceries!

A separate flyer went home yesterday Monday about Ashbys participation in two new programs, the Woolworths Earn and LearnProgramand the Coles Sports for Schools Program.

TheWoolworthsprogram is already underway (it started July 18 th) and will go until September 18th. The program gives primaryand secondary schools the opportunity to get needed educational resources, like books, furniture, puzzles and arts and craft supplies.

For every $10 you spend in store (excluding the purchase of cigarettes, alcohol and gift cards or purchases made throughWoolworths online or at Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets) you can earn one point. Points will automatically appear on yourshopping dockets (at the bottom). Please return your shopping docket (or at least the bit at the bottom with the points you earned andtheir code) to your childs teacher or the school office or place it in the collection box on the Friends of Ashby Bulletin Board justoutside the staff room. The school will enter your code online to get your points.

Dont forget to ask your family and friends for their points too! At the end of the program we can redeem the points we have earnedagainst a choice of more than 7,000 educational resources including library books, classroom equipment, art & craft materials andmuch, much more for our school.

This will be the second year we are participating in theColesprogram. Last year we earned over 9,000 points which allowed us toget new bouncy balls, catch cone sets, vortex howlers and volleyballs. This program begins August 11thand runs until October18th.

Through this program for every $10 spent at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Online, Bi-Lo or Pickn Pay you will earn a Coles Sports forSchools voucher worth 1 point. When making your purchase, simply ask your cashier for the Coles Sports for Schools vouchers.

Were asking our local school community to collect these vouchers from family, friends and neighbours. Vouchers can be returned toyour childs teacher or the school office. You can also place them in the collection box outside the staff room.

The more vouchers we collect, the more sports gear we can get! Just remember to ask for the vouchers when you pay for yourpurchase.
