    Footy Day at Ashby

    Primary School

    Fundraiser for Casey

    Tutungi

We very much value the sense ofcommunity that we are so lucky toenjoy at Ashby Primary School. Ingood communities we support one

another and a tangible sense ofbelonging exists that sees all involvedworking towards a common goal andculture. One does not have to knowanother member of the communitywell, or personally, as a prerequisiteto provide support to a fellowcommunity member in their time ofneed.

The power of the broader communityhas been very much in evidence thelast month in the wonderful support

that has been given to Casey Tutungi, his partner and family. Casey recentlysuffered an unfortunate injury in agame of football that resulted in himbecoming a quadriplegic. His partnerwho is expecting their first child wasat the game and witnessed theincident.

In the weeks that have followed hisaccident, his club South Barwon, hisformer clubs, the Geelong FootballClub, Lorne Football Club and theentire Geelong football communityhave rallied behind Casey and his

    family.

Football clubs across Victoria and theHawthorn Football Club have alsojoined in to offer extra emotional, financial and moral support.

The people of Geelong donated asubstantial sum to tin rattlers at theGeelong v St Kilda game. There aremore fundraising events to follow.

Values Education teaches us of theimportance of community and recentevents have shown us all that goodcommunities do provide incrediblesupport for one another.

On Wednesday 21st August theAshby Primary School community hasthe opportunity to show how much

they care by participating in a FootyDay to provide awareness of andfundraise for Casey Tutungi.Students are encouraged to wearfooty colours to school on this dayand will partake in a series ofactivities throughout the day relatedto football and people who havedisabilities.

A sausage sizzle will be provided(order forms were sent homeMonday) and all children are asked tobring a gold coin donation which willbe collected for the Casey TutungiAppeal.

Parents are invited to join us for thesausage sizzle at lunch (1:30-2:30pm). Just make sure to add yoursausage to your childs order form.
