A Resolution for Student Representation on the Board of Trustees8

Whereas, Enrollment in the principle campus units of the University of10

Arkansas system is currently at 60,725 students; and11

12

Whereas, The students of the University of Arkansas would benefit by having13

a student representative on the Board of Trustees to voice the14

concerns and needs of students from a students point of view; and15

16

Whereas, Amendment 33, Section 3 of the Arkansas Constitution states17

regarding boards and commissions governing state institutions,18

The membership of any such board or commission now in19

existence shall not be increased or decreased in number after the20

effective date of this amendment nor shall the number of members21

of any such board or commission created after this amendment is in22

operation be increased or decreased subsequent to its creation.23

Be it therefore resolved: The University of Arkansas Fayetteville25

campus show its support for the creation of a26

student member on the Board of Trustees; and2728

Be it further resolved: This student member shall serve a one year29

term and be granted the same rights and30

privileges as the other board members; and31

Be it further resolved: This student member shall be held to the same33

standards of conduct as outlined in the board34

policy; and35

Be it further resolved: The selection of this student shall be designed37

as a prestigious and highly competitive38

process; and39

Be it further resolved: Each University of Arkansas principle campus41

unit, as defined in the board policy, shall be42

allowed to put forth one candidate per year;1

and2

Be it further resolved: The final selection of this student member shall4

be made by the current board members; and5

Be it further resolved: The Associated Student Government of the7

University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus8

supports whatever legislative measures are9

required to establish a student board member10

of the University of Arkansas Board of11

Trustees.12
