    A Resolution to Provide Necessary Testing Materials1011

    Whereas, 91.7 percent of 2,639 students responded in the 2012-2013 ASG12

    Student Poll that they enjoyed having scantrons, blue books, and13

    other testing materials provided for them in Fall 2012; and14

    15

    Whereas, 72.52 percent of 2,664 students responded in the 2012-2013 ASG16

    Student Poll that they would be in favor of a minimal increase in17

    tuition to allow the University to continue providing scantrons, blue18

    books, and other testing materials to all students; and19

    20

    Whereas, In the 2011-2012 academic year, students took 275,872 on-campus21

    credit hours1; and22

    23

    Whereas, If 24,932 students (Fall 2012 enrollment excluding24

    correspondence only students) took the same amount of credit25

    hours, 20 cents per credit hour would raise $55,284; and26

    27

    Whereas, More credit hours have been taken this year because there are 5.8928

    percent more students (excluding correspondence only) in Fall29

    2012 than Fall 2011; and30

    Whereas, A University student enrolls in 12 credit hours on average each32

    semester based on enrollment numbers and total on-campus credit33

    hours taken last year; and34

    Whereas, A 20 cent per credit hour increase in tuition per semester would36

    raise at least $58,540.80 and cost only $2.40 to students on37average; and38

    Whereas, This is more than $3,000 raised than the Fall 2012s program cost;40

    and41

    Whereas, The Associated Student Government aims to aid students as well as43

    be responsive to student needs; and44

    Whereas, Many other SEC schools including Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky,46

    LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt provide scantrons,47

    blue books, and other testing materials for their students; and48

    Whereas, Students deserve an accountable University system to provide50

    testing materials; then51

    52

    Be it therefore resolved: ASG supports a more accountable system53

    including a minimal credit hour raise in tuition54

    to provide scantrons, blue books, and other55

    testing materials for students; and56

    57

    Be it further resolved: ASG supports an audit board comprised of the58

    ASG Treasurer, ASG Director of Academic59

    Affairs, a member of RSO Financial Affairs, the60

    ASG Liaison to University Funding and61

    Administration, and one student at-large; and62

    Be it further resolved: ASG supports the created audit boards powers64

    to set meetings, review spending and testing65

    materials requests, and conduct internal66

    affairs; and67

    Be it further resolved: ASG supports regulations that require69

    departments to confirm student enrollment on70the 11th day of classes and on the Early71

    Progress grade report day to limit the number72

    of test materials that shall be provided to73

    departments for each class.74
