Batch Mode Changes Batch Unit Dose Labels - SCR 19137, Ticket 171808

Ascend provides the ability to speed up certain tasks by allowing you to complete them as a batch process. A new Batch Unit Dose Labels mode has been added in Ascend 2012. This mode provides you with a way to print unit dose labels for many patients and orders without having to access each patient and order individually.

To launch the Batch Unit Dose process:

Select Orders > Batch Modes > Batch Unit Dose Labels from the main menu, orRight-click anywhere in the Orders tab and select Batch Modes > Batch Unit Dose Labels

Each order that matches the criteria selected is displayed in the list. If needed, you can open an order by double-clicking on it. In addition to opening the order details, the patient profile corresponding to the selected order is also opened in the background.

When in this mode, the program will automatically print a Unit Dose label for each order selected. There are two ways to select the labels you want to print:

Select the orders to process in the batch using CTRL click, orclick Select All to select all orders and click Print.

Note: When you click Print, the Labels/Forms window will open briefly and then close automatically. No input is required.

No charges are created when printing the batch unit dose labels.

Note: You also have the option to print unit dose labels when running the fill list report. It is an option that is on the Options tab of the report. If set to "Yes" it will automatically print a unit dose label for each order when the fill list report is run. See the Report Changes section of the release notes under the Fill List Report for additional information.

Floor Stock List Filter

In the Batch Modes, a Floor Stock filter has been added to search for orders linked to a specific Floor Stock List, "All Floor Stock Lists" or "No Floor Stock Lists Assigned". The Floor Stock List field has been added to the list of available customized columns.



Billing Changes The following enhancement/bug fixes all relate to billing or claims functionality.

Close Month - Ticket 174323

A customer reported a problem when trying to close a month for a new facility for the first time. The problem occurred when the user switched to a new facility, without logging out of Ascend, and attempted to close the month for the new facility. Switching the facility was not clearing the value stored in memory for the previous facility for the close month function. This has been corrected in Ascend 2012.

Note: For more information on the Close Month process, see the Help File topic "Close Month" under Billing and Financials in the Table of Contents.

X12 837P 5010 Changes

The following changes have been made for the X12 837P claims.

PAT07 and PAT08 fields are situational on attached CMN/DME Form - Ticket 175394

In X12 5010 for 837P claims, the PAT07 (weight unit) and PAT08 (weight amount) are situational and should only be sent if the claim has a CMN form 02.03, CMN form 10.02 or DME form 10.03 attached. If one of the forms is not attached, the PAT07 and PAT08 fields should be empty. This has been corrected in the code.

Loop 1000A PER02 Field needs to be different than Loop 1000A NM1 - Ticket 175586

The X12 5010 837P Loop 1000A PER02 field needs to be different than Loop 1000A NM1. A Payer rejected a batch due to the Loop 1000A PER02 field containing the same text as the Loop NM103. A change was made from getting PER02 from the facility name to the name of the user submitting the batch.

Loop 2000A Missing Header

The change made to build loop 2010AB in 5010 introduced a bug where Loop 2000A would fail to be created. This was causing claims to be rejected. This began with Ascend 7.2.44. It has been corrected in the code.



Add 2010AB Loop with Pay To Provider Address - Ticket 175155

For X12 5010 837P claims, a change has been made that will now create the 2010AB loop when the Pay To Provider is different than the Billing Provider. Previously, Ascend only included the Billing Provider's address in the claim. For example, the Pay To Provider and the Billing Provider are different and the Pay To Provider address is a PO Box number. The Pay To Provider's PO Box will now be included in Loop 2010AB.

If you need to submit a PO Box as the Billing Provider,you can create a new Provider with the PO Box address and assign the Pay To Provider in the claim as the Provider with the PO Box. The Pay To Provider and Billing Provider are stored on the HCFA tab of the claim.

The 2010AB loop should contain the NM1, N3 and N4 segments.

Loop 2010AB example:

Note: A new Pay to Provider field has been added to the Patient Information tab of the patient record that can be used to set a value for the Pay To Provider in any claims created for the patient. When this value is set on the Patient, it will be sent as the default Pay To Provider in the 2010AB Loop of the 5010 claim. See the section in the Release Notes called Patient or Profile Changes for additional information.

Loop 2310C Missing N3 and N4 Segments - SCR 19074, Ticket 176355

The N3 and N4 segments were not being populated with the facility's location address, city, state and zip code. This applied to patients that were linked to a location. This has been fixed in the 2012 version of Ascend.

N3 should contain the facility location's address. For example:

N3*123 Main Location Street~

N4 should contain the facility location's city/state/zip. For example:

N4*City Location*KS*9111101232

Loop 2400 PWK02 Change - SCR 19156 Ticket 177822

Versions of Ascend 7.2 and earlier, had been hardcoded to place the value of AD in PWK02. With Ascend 2012 a modification has been made so you can control what value is populated in PWK02 from the supported list:



The update will set the value to be AD for existing claim items with an attached Certificate of Medical Neccessity (CMN). Any new claims will default to a value of AD but can be changed by the user by going to the HCFA-1500 tab of the claim item and changing the value of the Attach Code field.

This is an example of the X12 data:

Loop 2400 SV104 Quantity Field - Ticket 177198

A change has been made to the SV104 Quantity field of the 2400 loop so that when a decimal is used with the charge quantity, the maximum number of digits allowed to the right of the decimal is three.

For example, the claim quantity is 1.9995. When creating the X12 claim, the value sent in the quantity field will be a 2.000.



If the fourth decimal place ends in a 5 or greater the quantity will round up. If the fourth decimal place ends in a value less than 5 it will round down.

Loop 2420E Ref Segment - SCR 19084, Ticket 176547

According to the 5010 specs, the PER segment in the Loop 2420E should only be sent when the claim item has a CMN or DME form attached.

A previous version of Ascend was creating the segment regardless if a CMN or DME form was attached. This has been corrected in Ascend 2012. When the X12 5010 output is generated, the PER segment is only included in the 2420E Loop when a CMN or DME form is attached to a claim.

Loop 2440 Answers 1A and 1B in the wrong field in the FRM segment - SCR 19083, Ticket 176695

Form 484.03, question 1B contains a percentage answer. Percentage answers should be reported in FRM field 5. Ascend was previously building this answer in FRM03. Also question 1A should be reported in FRM03, Ascend was previously building this in FRM05. These issues have been corrected in the code in Ascend 2012.

NCPDP Changes

NCPDP Transmission Method at the Facility level - SCR 17990, Ticket 159909

A new option has been added that will allow you to set the method for transmission of NCPDP claims at the facility level. This will allow multi-facility customers with individual facilities using different switch vendors to set the transmission method at the



facility level. For example, if one facility uses Relay Health and another facility uses Emdeon, you can now set the switch differently for each facility. In past releases, this was a global option with one setting for all facilities. This option is available from the menu path Utilities > Options > Billing

NCPDP - Modem Transmission Method Removed

The modem transmission method has been removed from Ascend. This option had been available from the Utilities > Options > Billing tab menu path, but was not functional.

NCPDP D.0 Claims Included Unsupported 467-1E Field

If there was a value in the Doctors "Location Code" field, the 467-1E field was incorrectly included in the Prescriber Segment when the D.0 NCPDP file format was created. The code has been changed to disallow the creation of field 467-1E if there is a value in the Doctor's Location Code field. The 467-1E field is ONLY valid for NCPDP 5.1 claims.

Inpatient Charges Using Charge on Administration



In versions prior to Ascend 2012, inpatient charges always included the inventory item that was ordered (the OrdersItems.InventoryRef field). With the introduction of Charge on Administration (COA) using the RAS interface, Ascend now has the ability to include the administered inventory item on the Charges report and when charges are transmitted from Ascend through an HL7 interface or an export file.

This is an example of the Charges Report showing the administered item that is different than the ordered item. In the example below, A & D Ointment was scheduled for all the doses but, for one dose, Vitamins A & D was administered instead of the ordered A & D Ointment:



Form and Label Changes The following enhancements/bug fixes all relate to forms or labels.

Medication Reconciliation Form - SCR 18636, Ticket 167352

A request was made to add a signature line at the bottom of every page of the Medication Reconciliation Form. A new version of this form has been added to Ascend 2012. The new form includes the signature line at the bottom of every page.

To print out the Medication Reconciliation form:

1. Highlight an order on the patient profile. 2. Right click and select Print, the Labels/Form window opens. 3. Select Medication Reconciliation from the Labels and Forms menu. 4. Then click Preview or Print.

Note: The Medication Reconciliation form footer can be configured under Utilities > Options, Printing tab. If you had previously configured a signature line for this form, it may not be needed with the enhancement.

New Label Options

Several new label options were added to Ascend 2012.

Include Time with Start and Stop Dates - SCR 17952, Ticket 153558

A new option has been added: "Include time with start and stop dates". The option is listed under the Printing tab of the Options screen, as an option for the Unit Dose label. This is where you can turn the option on or off for the label.



When the option is checked to include start and stop dates, the time is printed after the Start and Stop dates on the label. Otherwise only the dates are printed. The label would look similar to this example:

PRN Priority and Indication

Two new options have been added for Unit Dose labels for PRN Priority and Indication.



Include PRN Priority - when turned on, the Unit Dose label will print the text "As Needed" directly below the instructions field.Include Indication - when turned on, the Unit Dose label will print the text "For [Indication]" directly below the instructions field.When both are turned on, the printed text will be "As Needed for [Indication]".

Note: This requires the order to have a PRN priority and an indication selected during order entry.

Note: If neither of the options are selected, the label will look as it has in the past.



Barcode Font Size - SCR 18280, Ticket 158750

Under the Printing tab of the Options screen, a new "Barcode Font Size" field has been added. The Inpatient IV label and the Unit Dose label have been modified to accept the barcode font size as a parameter.

When you set the option to a specific font size other than blank or zero, when the Inpatient IV label or the Unit Dose label is printed, the size of the barcode on the label is set to the value you set in the field. The barcode section of the label automatically adjusts to the barcode height, based on the font size.

Print Blank Mix and Expiration Dates - SCR 18280, Ticket 157521

A new option has been added called "Print blank mix and expiration dates". You can select this option from the Utilities > Options > Printing tab under Inpatient IV Label. If the option is checked in the Options screen, when the label is printed, the Mix and Expiration dates are not printed. Instead, a blank line is printed for each, allowing the user to hand-write the dates.



Interface Changes The following enhancement/bug fixes all relate to interface functionality.

ADT Changes

The following enhancements/bug fixes all relate to the ADT interface.

User-defined ADT fields

Functionality has been added for user-defined ADT fields.

A mapping tool has been added to the ADT tab on the Ascend Interface Engine. You can use this tool to add specific HL7 fields and map them to a User-Defined field in Ascend.

Important Information:

Facility - The drop-down list includes the choice "All Facilities". If you select "All Facilities", the field will be applied for a message received for any facility. If a specific facility is selected, the field will only be applied when a message is received for that facility. A field can only be defined once per facility. User-Defined Field - The list of Fields that appear in the drop-down list is populated from the Master lists of all facilities combined. These are built from the menu path Utilities > Options > Admission Tab > User-Defined fields drop-down list. Each facility would build their own list. Segment - This is the HL7 segment that the information will be captured from.Seq. # - This is the sequence number of the HL7 segment you specified. If the sequence number is defined here, the information will be pulled only from the segment that has that specific sequence number. If the sequence number is not specified and more than one instance of the same segment is sent, the information will be pulled from the FIRST segment of that type and subsequent segments of that type will be ignored for the field definition.Field # - This is the HL7 field number in the segment.Comp.# - This is the component number and is an optional field.



Note: Using this feature may require the assistance of your system administrator and/or your Mediware Implementation Analyst.

A03 Messages Not Sent

Logic was added in Ascend version 7.1 to prevent patient updates from sending excessive A03 (Discharge) messages. However, a bug caused some legitimate discharge messages to not be sent.

Originally the interface would check to see if the admission had a discharge date in the past, and if so, an A08 would be converted into an A03. This resulted in a lot of unwanted A03 messages being sent for discharged admissions.

The original change was intended to check any outgoing A08 message and, rather than convert it to A03 if there was a discharge date in the past, just not send it. However, a bug was introduced that also caused valid A03 messages to not be sent if the admission had a discharge date in the past.

With release 2012, a change was made to ONLY check A08 messages. If the admission has a discharge date and that date is in the past, then no message is sent.

Middle Initial No Longer Processed by ADT

Beginning with Ascend 2012, the middle initial is no longer processed by the ADT. The previous interface could populate the field and save it in the database, but there was no way to view the data in Ascend.

Block Sending Inactive Diagnoses, Option to Send Resolved Diagnoses

In previous versions, all diagnoses were being sent, regardless of status. Two changes were made to address this:

A change was made so that diagnoses with a status of Inactive will never be sent.An option has been added to the ADT tab to allow sending Resolved diagnoses. If the box is checked, diagnoses with a status of Resolved will be sent.



New Fields Implemented in ADT Batch Interface

Several fields that were previously not implemented in the ADT batch interface have been added in Ascend 2012. The new fields are:

ADM Interface - Ticket 177657

Occasionally incoming charges from MedDispense were failing to process. There were several changes made to the code to correct this problem including improved error handling.

ADM and RAS Interface - Create Inventory Record as Non-For-mulary Option

An option was needed to have inventory records created through the interface as Non-Formulary items. With release 2012, an option has been added to the General tab of the interface. When checked, inventory items added by the interface will be created as Non-Formulary items. When unchecked, inventory items added by the interface will be created as Formulary items.

Ascend Interface Service (AIS) Changes

Maximum Size Increase

A change has been made to the interface service so the SQL Server CE and the interface transaction log have been increased from a maximum size of 256 MB to 4 GB.



Memory Used Line Added to Log Messages

In order to track memory use by the Ascend Interface Service, a line has been added to log messages indicating the amount of memory currently in use

New Service Switch

A new Ascend Interface Service switch has been added that will determine if the orders will be discontinued automatically. This will work in conjuction with the Stop Date Grace Period options set in Ascend. The interface switch is called Automatically DC Orders.

Billing Interface

Error in Calculating Prices in Outbound Billing

In order to handle the inpatient fee when a dose is credited, a change was made to the function that gets the charges that are ready to be transmitted. In previous versions, when a dose had charges and credits for the same time and the inventory item had an inpatient fee, instead of deducting the inpatient fee it was being added to the charge. This was due to the code looking for a negative quantity in order to treat the fee as a credit. Since the previous record was a charged dose, the credit brought the sum of the charge to 0. Since the charged quantity wasn’t a negative number, the fee was treated as positive. The code has been modified not to look at the running sum of the charge as the charge/credit indicator of the fee but use only the quantity of the current dose. Now if the dose is a charge, the fee will be a positive. If the dose is a credit, the fee will be a negative

For example:



Sending the Administered item NDC number in the Billing Interface

Some Payers require that the NDC number of the billed item is the NDC of the item that was actually administered to the patient. With release 2012, if the administered item is different than the item selected at order entry (the ordered item), the NDC of the administered item will be sent in the FT1 segment of the billing message for that charge.

Note: This functionality requires the use of a Charge on Administration interface.

Sending Charges to Current Time - Billing Interface - SCR 17638, Ticket 157019

In previous releases, Ascend was coded to send transactions that are dated through midnight yesterday. With the current release you have the option to send all unbilled charges up to the current time.

The option has been added on the Ascend Interface Service on the Charges tab. It is called "Send Charges Up To Current Time". When the box is checked, all unbilled charges will be sent up to the current time. If unchecked, the charges will be sent as before, only up to the previous date. The default value is unchecked.

Interface Messages Character Limit - SCR 19150,Ticket 176992, 178087

In release 7.2 a change was made for all interfaces to use SQL Server Compact Edition (SQLCE) to store the messages instead of an XML file. All of the messages that were formerly stored in Transactions.XML are now stored in an SQLCE database.

A bug was found that caused interface messages to be truncated at 4,000 characters. This was caused by the message being stored in SQLCE during processing, as a nvarchar data type with a limit of 4,000 characters. This has been corrected. The message is now stored in the ntext type, which has no effective limit.



Orders Interface

The following enhancements/changes were made to the orders interface in Ascend 2012.

Indications for Orders-In and Orders-Out Interfaces - SCR 18461

Indications Added by Orders-in Interface

If an indication is sent in the RXO-20 segment by the orders_in interface, it will be added to the orders table in Ascend. The first three components will contain the Indication Code^Indication Text^Indication Coding System. If the indication sent does not find a match in the Ascend indications table, a new indication will be added in the database.

This is a sample of the RXO segment with an indication:

Indications Sent in Orders-out Interface

Indications can be sent with the DXID or SNOMED coding, if the option on the Orders tab is set to SNOMED or DXID.

If the SNOMED option is chosen, the SNOMED code will be sent in RXE-27.1 and the literal SCT will be sent in RXE-27.3.If the DXID option is chosen, the DXID code will be sent in RXE-27.1 and the literal DXID will be sent in RXE 27.3.If the "(none)" option is chosen, nothing will be sent.

Orders Not Attached to An Admission - Ticket 177848

Sometimes an order was entered on a patient by the interface without being assigned to an admission. It was stored in the database with the correct date and time, but did not appear on the patient's profile. This was caused by a problem with the admission ref not being obtained correctly. This has been corrected in the code.



Inventory Changes The following enhancement/bug fixes all relate to inventory functionality.

Basis of Cost List - Ticket 176730

The inventory screen has a drop-down list for Cost Basis. Earlier versions of Ascend did not have the entire list of NCPDP D.0 supported values. With version 2012 the complete list of values is included. This list is accessible from the Utilities > Inventory > Inventory > General tab or by clicking on the Inventory Icon. The Cost Basis is used in NCPDP billing transactions.

Inventory Adjustments/Transfer Enhancements - SCR 18977

The following changes/enhancements were made for the Inventory Adjustments/Transfer functionality.

Default Adjustment/Transfer Category Option

An enhancement has been made for the Inventory Adjustments and Transfer window to default to the "Transfer" category instead of the "Adjustments" category. This gives you the ability to set the category that most accurately reflects your work flow.

A new option has been created under Utilities > Options > Inventory tab . The option is called "Default Adjustment/Transfer Category". You can select either Transfer or Adjustment as your default category. If you do not select one of the options, the default setting is blank.



When the default category is set, it will default when the Adjustment/Transfer Inventory screen is opened. In this example, the Category option is set to default to "Transfer".

Note: If the default is blank, the program will use whatever category was last used by the user when in the Inventory Adjustments/Transfers screen.

When the default category is set, it will also default that category when a new Adjustment/Transfer Type is created.



Default Transfer To Item based on Transfer From Item

An enhancement has been made to the Inventory Adjustments/Transfers screen to have the "Transfer To Item" match the "Transfer From Item" when the Transfer Type requires a NDC match or NDC and Strength/Per match. This would be the default behavior.

A change has been made to provide the following enhancements:

If the adjustment/transfer type record is set to match by NDC, the program will limit the "Transfer To" items drop-down list to include only inventory records that also have a matching NDC number.If the adjustment/transfer type record is set to match by "Strength/Per", the program will limit the Transfer To items drop-down list to include only inventory records that also have a matching strength/per.

In this example below, the transfer rule requires both the NDC and Strength/Per match. When a user selects a drug from the Transfer From list, the Transfer To list is populated only with inventory items that match the NDC and Strength/Per of the Transfer From inventory item.



The Transfer Rules are set up on the Inventory Adjustment/Transfer Type found from the menu option Utilities > Options > Inventory tab, Adjustment/Transfer types list.

Note: Double click on the Adjustment/Transfer Type to set or change the Transfer Rules.

Transfer Inventory List Refresh Issue

The "Search By" drop-down list in the Inventory Adjustments/Transfer screen allows you to control which description will display in the inventory lists (i.e. description, NDC or Charge Code). In earlier versions, changing to a value other than description would not refresh the inventory lists to the selected choice. That has been fixed.

Inventory Quantity On Hand - SCR 19092, Tickets 176910, 176177

A problem was reported with Quantity On Hand decrementing incorrectly. The Inventory Quantity On Hand Field was decremented twice when a new order was entered and saved. This has been corrected.

Inventory Quantity On Hand Rounding Issue

A modification was made to the program that adjusts the inventory to address a rounding issue. Under some circumstances the adjustment was off by a tiny fraction .00000001. For example, instead of the quantity on hand being 5, it would be 4.99999999. To account for any rounding issues, the quantity on hand number that will be decremented or incremented will be rounded to 6 decimal places.



Miscellaneous Changes ASAP Changes - Ticket 175445

When running the ASAP export, if the database is hosted by an older version of SQL Server (2000), an error 5 is generated. This does not occur against SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008. This has been fixed with release 2012.

Backup Process Hangs - Ticket 175455

A problem was reported with the backup process hanging. It was related to the SQL server and environment permissions. Ascend performs 3 steps when doing a database backup. The user account must have access to the backup commands and the xp_cmdshell in order for all 3 steps to complete successfully.

In release 2012, Ascend will run the backup (if the user has permissions). If the user does not have backup permissions in SQL Server, a message box will display in Ascend with that information. Earlier versions of Ascend would just hang.

In release 2012, Ascend will continue to copy the backup file to the Ascend File Server\Backup directory. But if SQL Server does not support the xp_cmdshell command, the copy of the backup cannot be performed but now the program will not hang.

Database Connection Issue - Tickets 173182,166472

Under certain circumstances customers were reporting receiving an error: "Error: 91 Description: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Location: frmOrder-LoadOrder". This was a database connection issue where the connection was closed incorrectly. Starting with release 2012 a fix has been included that will avoid SQL failing by checking the state of the connection before running the query and will attempt to connect up to 10 times. If closed the connection will be reopened.

Error With More Than One Print Window Open

A customer reported getting an error when opening more than one Print window in a Claim. This occurred when the user clicked the Print button from within a claim and with the Print window still open, clicked the Print button again. This has been fixed in version 2012.

Facilities Locations Not Saving - Ticket 176364



When viewing the Locations in the Utilities > Facilities screen, no data displayed in these fields: Address1, Address2, City, State, and Zip. A customer reported that when data was entered in those fields, and saved the information appeared to be saved but when closing and re-opening the Facilities screen those fields showed as blank when viewing each Location. The data was in the database table, but did not display. This has been fixed in version 2012.

FDB Downloads

The Ascend website FDB download from within the application was turned off in January due to having different versions of FDB downloads for Ascend: a pre-7.2 version and a 7.2 or newer version. Now with 2012, Ascend passes the release version to the website for downloads so if your facility is running Ascend 2012 or newer, the FDB download will know which download to request and receive. If the website cannot determine the version of Ascend requesting the download, it will not give you the file to download. This avoids the scenario of a 7.1 facility downloading FDB intended for 7.2 or newer (this includes the price files) and having the AWP prices zeroed out.

Patient Address Mapping Hyperlink - SCR 19030, Ticket 173904, 174951, 175670

In versions of Ascend prior to 7.1, you could click on the patient's address hyperlink on the main patient profile screen and the program would open the browser to a mapping page (based on the Internet mapping site in Options). An Alternate Shipping address could be added to the patient profile that when clicked would display in a pop-up window. With the revised patient profile screen in 7.1, this functionality was lost. This has been corrected in the 2012 release.

To change to a different Internet mapping service, go to Utilities > Options > General tab and select a different service from the Internet Map Site drop-down list.



SNOMED Route Codes Enhanced - SCR 19099, Ticket 177062

In previous releases Ascend only included a subset of the SNOMED route codes in the SNOMED routes Lookup table. Now all SNOMED route codes have been added to the lookup table and are available in the route maintenance window to be linked to your route codes. When linked to the route codes, the SNOMED code will display in addition to the description.

SQL Server 2008 Compatibility Issue - Ticket 170668, 171167, 178423



Errors were reported using various function in Ascend. For example, "Error 0 Incorrect Syntax near the keyword 'StopList'".

In versions earlier than Ascend 2012, Ascend needed to be put in SQL Server 2005 compatibility mode due to the name StopList being introduced into SQL Server as a reserved name. In Ascend version 2012, changes have been made to resolve this name/field conflict which will allow Ascend to run in SQL Server 2008 mode.

Unhandled Exception Errors - SCR 19091

Issues were reported where users were receiving “unhandled exception – Attempted to read or write protected memory errors”. The error was random and not reproducible on demand. Changes have been made to replace old Microsoft COM references with managed code which eliminates the protected memory errors.

2012 Server Update Fails

The 2012 Server Update failed when upgrading from a 6.0 version of Ascend. The 2012 update process expected a table that was created in release 7.2 to exist. When upgrading from version 6.0, that table did not exist yet and the server update failed. The server update was changed to be all inclusive when updating from an older version to 2012.

Ascend Version Information - SCR 19012

Beginning with the 2012 release, the versioning in Ascend has been changed to conform to the new Mediware standard. The version will be the year (e.g. 2012). Ascend will continue to use a build number to identify specific builds of a version/service pack.

There are several places that you will see the version information:

Options Changes and Enhancements A number of changes/enhancements have been made for Ascend Options in release 2012.

Tab Changes

From the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Entry tab, the Order Entry tab has been re-designed and six of the existing Order Entry options have been moved to a new tab called Order Scheduling. Two new list options and two new required field options were added to the Order Entry options. Two new options have been added to the Order Scheduling tab.

Order Entry Tab

The options that have been moved from the Order Entry tab to the Order Scheduling tab are as follows:

Indications List Option

From the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Entry tab, select Indications from the List drop-down. Use this list to create the indications or conditions that the medications will be used for. Once these are built, you can select them from the indications drop-down during order entry.

Note: If your facility uses CPOE, and receives the indication code through the interface in the RXO-20 segment, the indication and the code will be added automatically by the interface.

Order Note Types List Option

The Order note types can be added under Utilities > Options >Order Entry and the list is Order Note Types. Use this list to create the note types you want to attach to patient orders. Some examples might be notes for sliding scale Insulin, or special instructions such as for tapered orders or orders that must be titrated.



Indication Required Options

Additional options have been added that when selected will give you the ability to make the indication a required field during order entry.

Inpatient Required Fields

There are two options available under Inpatient Required Fields:

Indication - use this option if you want to require an indication for all inpatient orders entered.

Indication for PRN Orders Only - use this option if you want to require an indication on inpatient PRN orders only.

Note: You do not have to make the indication a required field. You cannot select both of these inpatient options at the same time.

Inpatient Rewrite Fields

There is one new option available under Inpatient Rewrite Fields:

Indication - use this option if you want to require an indication for all inpatient rewrite orders entered.



Outpatient Required Fields

There is only one option available for Outpatient Required Fields. It is called Indication. Use this option to require an indication on all outpatient orders.

Order Scheduling Tab

The two new options that have been added to the Order Scheduling tab are as follows:

Stop Date Grace Period - SCR 17670, Ticket 157518

The Ascend Interface Service has a feature to check the stop date/times of medication orders in Ascend, every hour and auto-dc the orders based on the Stop Date Grace Period option. In previous releases, the most restrictive choice was 24 hours after the order stop date/time. With CPOE, there is a need to DC the orders on the Stop Date and time.

An additional option has been added to the Stop Date Grace period called "Within 1 Hour After Stop Date". This can be found from the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Scheduling Tab. This new option will cause the orders to be discontinued within one hour when the stop date and time is reached. It also requires that the Ascend Interface Switch Automatically DC Orders be turned on.



Maximum Scheduled Doses - SCR 19029, Tickets 175677, 175268

Occasionally Ascend receives orders from external systems with illogical timing. For example, "Q1MIN X 30 days". When Ascend attempted to schedule 43,000 doses, the interface would stop functioning when it reached a variable limit and the CPU would max out causing performance issues.

In order to avoid an order causing the interface to freeze, an option has been added that allows you to limit the number of doses to a reasonable number. The option is called Max Scheduled Doses. It limits the number of doses which will be scheduled when an order is created. This prevents the interface from freezing when orders are entered with dose times every minute.

To set this new option, follow the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Scheduling tab. The field name is Max Scheduled Doses. There is no default setting. The Ascend Interface Service and the manual order entry process will use this option to determine how many doses to schedule. If you do not enter a value in the field, it will work as it has in the past. The system will generate up to 33,000 doses, which is the variable limit. This could create performance issues.



Dose Scheduling Up to and Including Stop Date - SCR 18834, Tickets 172164, 168756, 166809, 156969

In previous releases, if you defined a frequency with administration times (e.g BID with administration times of 9:00 and 19:00) and entered an order with a start date/time of 09:00 for a limited number of days, the last dose would be a 19:00 dose even though the stop date/time was 09:00. If you had an order scheduled BID for a limited number of doses, the last dose would usually be on the stop date.

A new option called "Schedule Up To Stop Date" has been added to include doses up to and including the stop date/time when scheduling for a specific number of days. It causes a dose to be generated for the time of the Stop Date/Time. If this option is not selected, a dose is generated for the last time before the stop time, but not the stop time itself. To set this new option, follow the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Scheduling tab.



By default the option will be unchecked (i.e. turned off). This is the behavior of previous versions of Ascend and Ascend IP. This means the default behavior will not change and the scheduling will be generated for the last time before the stop time, but not the stop time itself.

Admission Tab

Doctor Id Type List Option

The Doctor Id Types can be added, edited or deleted from the Utilities > Options > Admission tab. Select the Doctor Id Type from the list options. This option allows you to create additional Id types that may be needed.

Note: This is for informational purposes only. It will be used in a future release.

Patient Notes Type List Option

A new list option was added for Patient Note Types. From the menu path Utilities > Options > Admission tab, select the Patient Note Types. Use this list to create the note types you want to attach to the patient. Some examples might include Patient Assessment, Pharmacokinetics Referral or Pharmacy Consult.



Note: There is additional information in the release notes under Profile Changes and in the Help file under Patient and Order Notes under Patient Profile Activities in the Table of Contents.

Required Fields for New Admit Options SCR 18000, Ticket 161369

Three new fields have been added as fields that can be required for a patient:

Printing Tab

Graphics Font Properties

Under the Printing tab of the Options screen, a new "Barcode Font Size" field has been added. The Inpatient IV label and the Unit Dose label have been modified to accept the barcode font size as a parameter. This allows you set the option to a specific font size other than blank or zero. When the Inpatient IV label or the Unit Dose label is printed, the size of the barcode on the label is set to the value you set in the field. The barcode section of the label automatically adjusts to the barcode height, based on the font size

Label Form: Inpatient IV Label

A new option has been added called "Print blank mix and expiration dates". You can select this option from the Utilities > Options > Printing tab under Inpatient IV Label. If the option is ‘checked’ in the Options screen, when the label is printed, the Mix and Expiration dates are not printed. Instead, a blank line is printed for each, allowing the user to hand-write the dates.

Label Form: Unit Dose Label

A new option has been added: "Include time with start and stop dates". The option is listed under the Printing tab of the Options screen, as an option for the Unit Dose label. This is where you can turn the option on or off for the label.



Label Form: Unit Dose Label

Two new options have been added called "PRN Priority" and "Indication". You can select these options from the Utilities > Options > Printing tab under Unit Dose Label.

Include PRN Priority - when turned on, the Unit Dose label will print the text "As Needed" directly below the instructions field.

Include Indication - when turned on, the Unit Dose label will print the text "For [Indication]" directly below the instructions field.

When both are turned on, the printed text will be "As Needed for [Indication]".

Note: There is additional information in the Release Notes under Forms and Label Changes.

Inventory Tab

A new option has been added under Utilities > Options > Inventory tab that gives you the ability to control the default behavior for your facility when using the Adjustment/Transfer functionality. The option is called "Default Adjustment/Transfer Category". You can select either Transfer or Adjustment as your default category. If you do not select one of the options, the default setting is blank.

Billing Tab

The modem transmission method has been removed from Ascend. This option had been available from the Utilities > Options > Billing tab menu path, but was not functional.

Reports Tab

An enhancement has been made to the way reports are assigned to groups in the Utilities > Options > ReportsTab, Group List.

In previous releases, when a new report was created it was automatically assigned to the "All Reports" group and to one of the hard-coded system groups. It was also not possible to reassign a report to a built-in system report group (i.e. Clinical, DME, Drug Utilization, etc.).



Note: There is additional information in the release notes under Report Changes. For detailed information see the help file topics "Adding a Report Group" and "Adding a Report to a Group" under Reports in the Table of Contents.

Clinical Review Types and Problems

There are a select number of clinical review types and problems that are considered system records needed for First Databank clinical checking. The program should not allow for deleting of these records. If these records are deleted, it impacts clinical checking. The list of clinical review types and problems are available under Utilities > Options > Order Entry. A change has been made so that the system records cannot be deleted.

Order Changes The following enhancement/bug fixes all relate to orders.

Order Indication Field - SCR 18461, Ticket 174627, 170015, 167013

An enhancement has been made that allows you to add an indication in Ascend during order entry. An indication is typically required for all PRN (i.e. “as needed”) medications.

The new field has been added to inpatient and outpatient orders in the Order group on the General tab. The field is a drop-down list that is populated from the new indications table. Any changes made to the field are captured in the order logging. A new field has been added to the Orders Table called IndicationRef.

A new column was added to the Orders View that will allow you add the Order Indication to the patient's order profile.



This is an example of the Order Indication displaying on the Orders tab:

A new column was added to the Batch Modes view that will allow you add the Order Indication to the display. Use the Customize Columns option on each of the Batch Modes to add it.

Note: The Indications must be built before they can be used in Order Entry. From the menu path Utilities > Options > Order Entry tab, select Indications from the List drop-down. Additional information can be found in the release notes under Options Changes and Enhancements. For detailed information on using indications see the help file topic "Order Indications". It can be found under Order Entry Activities in the Table of Contents.

Common Orders New Option - Ticket 177950

An enhancement has been made to Common Orders that allows you to control the behavior of how defaults are imported when adding a common order to a patient. In earlier versions, the common order would be created, then any inventory defaults would be applied for fields that had not been assigned in the common order template. For example, if a common order had no comments, but one of the inventory items in the common order had default comments assigned at the inventory level, the inventory default comments would be applied to the new order being added to the patient.

An option has been added to the Other Tab of the Common Orders. It is called "Do Not Import Inventory Defaults". When this option is checked no inventory settings will be pulled into the order during order entry.

Note: Inventory defaults are only applied to fields that are empty (e.g. if a common order template has comments, the inventory default comments will not overwrite the common order template comments).



Dose Scheduling Issue - SCR 19149, Ticket 174926

A problem was reported that occurred on inventory items with pre-existing SIGS in the Physician's Order field. For example, when entering an order using an inventory item that included the Physician’s Order (e.g. Q8H), and changing the Q8H to Q12H, and the Start Date time to 0900, the Schedule Times/Charges field was missing the 0900 dose every other day. This issue has been corrected in release 2012.

Find Order By Interface ID

In Ascend you can search for an order by using the Find Order function. In previous releases you could search by Rx Number or Order Ref. A new option has been added called "By Interface Id". If you have CPOE this allows you to search by the external system order number.

Interface Messages Queued After Clinical Checking Completed - Ticket 177093



When a new order is entered, unless the user has to have their orders verified, the order is added as an Active order. This resulted in a window of time where an order was active until the results of clinical checks were displayed and the user took action to cancel or inactivate the order. As soon as the order was saved and committed to the database, the Save function would put any outbound orders in the interface queue to be processed. This was causing some orders to be sent as new active orders before the clinical interventions were completed.

A change has been made to the order entry process. When the Save function is called, any outbound order is no longer queued in the interface. Instead, another call has been added after the clinical checking has completed and the user has completed any actions required. At that time, the interface messages will be placed in the interface queue to be processed.

New Order Incorrectly Marked as Billed -Ticket 151643 and 177700

Pharmacy orders were being set to a billed status of Y automatically, but no claims were created. This occurred when Orders were created from a Common Order template that had the ClaimDate copied from the common order template to the new order. If the common order was saved with a value in the ClaimDate field, the order was marked as billed even though the new order had not been billed.

A change was made in the code to correct the problem. Now when the common order is added to the patient, the new order's ClaimDate is cleared so even if there is a date in the common order's ClaimDate field, when the order is added to the patient the new order will default with a blank ClaimDate.

Order Entry Tab/Enter Key Sequence Modified - Ticket 177782

Previous versions of Ascend required extra keystrokes during order entry and did not follow the natural flow of the order entry form. When tabbing through the controls on the left (Instructions, Label, Comments) the focus after the Comments field would move to the button on the lower right instead of moving to the next set of data entry controls needed to complete the order (Start Date for inpatient, or Date Written for outpatient). This has been adjusted so the flow follows the natural data entry fields (comments, then the data fields).



Rewrite Order Sends DC'd Message

When rewriting an inpatient order either from the Orders menu or using the Rewrite button in the Order screen, an outbound DC message for the order was not being sent. This has been corrected in the code. Now when you select an Active order and choose to Rewrite the order, a DC'd message should appear in the Interface Queue for the order that was rewritten.

Verified Order Is Not Removed from the Batch Verify Orders Screen When Verified -SCR 19135, Ticket 175196

A problem was reported that occurred during Batch Verify Orders. When verifying an order from the Batch Verify screen, if you used the Print function in the Order before selecting OK to close the screen or move to the next order, the verified order is not removed from the Batch Verify screen. This has been corrected.



Patient / Profile ChangesNotes Enhancement

A new Notes feature has been added to Ascend that allows you to enter patient and order specific notes with the ability to generate reminders for follow-up actions if needed. Before adding notes on the patient profile or the order, you must build the note types.

Patient Notes

The patient note types can be added under Utilities > Options > Admissions and the list is Patient Note Types.

You can access the new Patient Notes menu options from the menu path Patients > Patient Notes > New, Edit, Delete Note.



You can also access the notes feature from the patient's profile. Select the Notes tab, and using the right click mouse menu, you can add a new note, or edit and delete a note.

A reminder can be set on the note when using the New and Edit options. This allows you to set a date and time for a reminder to follow-up on a patient or order.



With the reminder set, you will get a "Reminders" pop-up when you log into Ascend. When you have completed the follow-up required, open the note and uncheck the reminder.

Once you have added notes to the patient profile, clicking on a column heading will sort the notes on the clicked column. The last column sorted will be remembered the next time the you log in. The security objects have been updated so permissions can be granted for New, Edit and Delete.



Order Notes

The Order note types can be added under Utilities > Options > Order Entry and the list is Order Note Types.

To add an order note to an order, on the patient's profile, double click the order you wish to attach the note to. The order information window will open. Select the Notes tab and enter the order notes using the Add, Edit and Delete buttons.

Note: When adding an order note you will have the option to set a reminder just like on the patient notes. The reminder function on order notes is not fully functional at this time.

Patient Notepad

With the addition of Patient Notes to the patient menu, the single Patient Note menu item has been renamed to Patient Notepad to avoid any confusion. The toolbar caption has also been changed along with the caption of the note window. Also the security object for the menu item has been changed from "Menu Patients | Patient Note" to "Menu Patients | Patient Notepad".

Patient Information Tab - SCR 18000, Ticket 161369



Pay To Provider Added to Patient Record

A new Pay to Provider field has been added to the Patient Information tab of the patient record that can be used to set a value for the Pay To Provider in any claims created for the patient. Changes made to this field are captured in the patient changes log from the menu path Patients > View Patient Changes. When this value is set on the Patient, it will be sent as the default Pay To Provider in the 2010AB Loop of the 5010 claim.

The Provider field has been renamed to Billing Provider.

Required Fields for New Admission

In Ascend IP both the Diet and Attending/Primary doctor were included in the list of fields that could be required for a patient admission. With release 2012, Diet, Attending/Primary Dr and Pay to Provider have been added to the list of "Required Fields For A New Admit" options on the Utilities > Options > Admission tab. When selected you will be required to enter those values when admitting a patient.

Patient Middle Name

With release 2012, you now have the option to enter a patient's middle name or initial on the Patient Information tab. It has been added as an additional patient identifier. The field has a maximum limit of 30 characters and changes will be captured in the patient changes log.

Note: At this time, the middle name cannot be processed in the ADT interface. That will be included in future development.

Patient Missing Information Screen



The Patient Missing Information screen is designed to list every patient whose record is missing the information in the fields selected by the user. Once a list of fields is selected, the user clicks the “Show Patients” button, and the screen fills with a list of patients whose records are missing data in any of the selected fields. The menu path for this function is Patients > Patient Missing Information.

Diagnosis - Ticket 177169

In previous versions of Ascend, when the user selected (‘checked’) the “Diagnoses” field, when the screen was updated, even if a patient had no diagnosis linked to the CURRENT admission, the patient did not appear in the screen.

This has been corrected. Now, when the user selects the “Diagnoses” field, when the screen is updated, if a patient has no diagnosis linked to the CURRENT admission, the patient appears in the screen (even if the patient has a diagnosis specifically linked to an earlier admission). If a patient DOES have a diagnosis linked to the current admission, that patient does NOT appear in the list on the screen.

NOTE: If a patient has a legacy diagnosis that is NOT attached to any of the patient’s admissions (the PatientDiagnosis.PatientAdmisssionRef column is NULL), then that diagnosis is considered linked to EVERY admission, including the CURRENT admission, so that patient will NOT be listed on the screen.



Primary Insurance - Ticket 178581

When using the missing patient information screen and searching for missing Primary Insurance, there was an error in the SQL for this field that resulted in incorrect records showing/missing when using the Primary Insurance field. This has been corrected.



Report ChangesThe following enhancement/bug fixes all relate to the reporting functionality.

Report Groups

With release 2012, the new reports will be included in the "All Reports" group, but you can now assign them to any of the system groups or to a group that you have created. The previously assigned reports can be moved if desired.

Charges Report

There were several changes made to the charges report for Ascend 2012.

Charge on Administration

A change was made to the Charges Report for clients using Charge on Administration. When the administered item is different than the ordered item they will display differently on the report. In the example below, A & D Ointment was scheduled for all the doses but for one dose, Vitamins A & D was administered instead of the ordered A & D Ointment.



Charges Report Transactions - SCR 16783, Ticket 175737

The Charges report has been modified for the Inpatient customers. The following changes were made:

The ability to run the report in Summary mode was added. When run in Summary mode, all lines for the same drug withe the same order number are combined into a single summary line, showing the drug's total quantity and charges. The report prints "Summary" after the title to clarify which mode was run.The time in 24-hour format now prints with the date fields.The "Charge Type" column (i.e. Scheduled, Manual) was addedThe "Transmitted" column was moved to the right hand side of the report.The report was reoriented to landscape mode to accommodate the additional columns.The report is grouped by patient with heavy black lines now delineating the patients.The SQL has been modified to be compatible with SQL Server 2008 database engine.

Charges Report Rounding Decimals - SCR 17380, Ticket 156076

Several customers reported that the Charges Report rounding of the quantity value for a credit (negative amount) was not working correctly. For example, the rounding was changing a value of -2.9 to a value of -2 instead of -3, as was expected. This has been corrected. The negative values are rounded to the next largest negative number.

Charges Report Rounding Strength - SCR 19090, Ticket 176331, 173411

Another rounding issue was reported on the Charges report that occurred when the dose strength was a decimal. The decimal numbers were rounding up to a whole number. For example a drug with a strength of 2.5mg was rounding up to 3mg. In release 2012, the drug strength rounding on the Charges report has been eliminated.

Fill List Report

Several modifications/enhancements were made for the fill list in release 2012.

Fill List and Other Reports Do Not Retain Times - SCR 19033, Ticket 173406

In previous releases, once the Fill List is created and you run it for the first time there is a check box to "Remember as the default date range". The next time the report was opened, the correct dates were used to pre-populate the "From" and "To" dates. It was reported that this function was no longer working correctly. Any report that referred to the same date controls as the Fill List was also having this problem. This has now been fixed and should work as expected. Once you set the period/range for "From" and "To "date and time, the program will default to that same period/range for the same report. The menu path for the reports list is Reports > Reports List > General Tab.

Fill List Processing Issue - Ticket 177429

An issue was reported with the Fill list taking an excessive amount of time to process. This has been resolved in release 2012.

Fill List Option to Print Unit Dose Labels

A new report option has been added to the Fill List Report that will allow you to print a unit dose label for each order when the fill list is run. When set to Yes, it will automatically print one label for each active order on the report. The label will have a quantity for the number of doses for the order. No labels will print for discontinued or floor stock orders.

To enable this option:



1. From the menu path Reports > Fill list select the Option tab. 2. Double click "Print Unit Dose Label", a prompt will ask you "Print Unit Dose

Label?". 3. Select Yes to turn it on, or No to turn it off. It will be set to No by default. 4. Click Close to save the changes.

Once enabled, the fill list will continue to print the unit dose labels until you turn the option off.

Note: If you select the Preview option with the Unit Dose option set to Yes, you will get a preview for each label that will print.

Note: A new way to print unit dose labels from the Batch Modes menu has also been added in Ascend 2012. For additional information see the release notes section for Batch Mode Changes.

Indications

The following enhancements were made for use with the Order Indications enhancement.

New Indications Filter Added - SCR 18461

A new report filter has been added to take advantage of the new Order Indications field. The filter is called "Order Indication". Any report that uses the Orders table should have access to this new filter.



Indications Report

A new report has been added called Indications. It will give you a list of the indications you have added, their DXID code, the First Databank Indication and the SNOMED code if it has been linked to the indication. A Yes/No filter is available called Indications Archived. It allows you to include or exclude archived indications in the report.

Inpatient Order Info Report - SCR 16892, 16895



A new report has been added for the Inpatient customers. The Inpatient Order Info report was added for customers who converted from Ascend IP, and needed a version of this report that does not include "Other Medication" orders. The report provides the user with a list of inpatient orders and can be sorted by Patient Name or Room. It includes orders only for the facility into which the report-generating user is logged.

If the report is sorted by Patient Name, there is no grouping by room. If it is sorted by Room, the grouping is also by room, and the patients are sorted within a room by their entered date with the earliest date first.

The report will print the Order description, the Order Ref, the complete instructions or SIG, Start and Stop Date, and Entered By information for each order.

Inpatient Stop Orders Report - SCR 17969, 16448, Ticket 144497

A new report has been added for the Inpatient customers. The Inpatient Stop Orders report was added for customers who converted from Ascend IP, and needed a version of this report.

The Inpatient Stop Orders report identifies orders that have a Stop Date in the near future that pharmacy will either discontinue or renew (generate additional scheduled doses). The report includes orders only for the facility into which the report-generating user is logged.

The report lists Patient name, Room number, OrderRef, Order description, SIG, Physician name, order Start Date/Time and order StopDate/Time. You can also filter by Patient Type.

The report will look similar to this example:



MAR Report - SCR 18634, Ticket 167733

An enhancement has been made that adds the order start and stop times to the MAR report. This was added to the Ascend 2012 version of the report. In the new version of the report, a time (as hh:mm) is now printed with the order start date ("Start:") and order stop date ("Stop:") fields at the report's order level.

This is a sample of the report with the start and stop times added to the report:



Medication Distribution Report - SCR 19136, Ticket 176606

A new Medication Distribution Report has been added to Ascend to assist you in identifying items that have been dispensed from the pharmacy. The default date filters are based on the dose dates (i.e. charge date, dose date, transmitted date) and additional filters that are available under the Filters tab.

The following information is reported:

1. Name of patient 2. Name of drug, strength & dosage form 3. Dose prescribed 4. Quantity distributed 5. Time and date of distribution

The output of the report will look something like this:



Narcotic Log Report - SCR 19169, Ticket 177928



A problem was reported with the Narcotic Log. The report was missing (not displaying) narcotic orders when the number of orders to display for the date range exceeded what could print on one page. The total number of orders reported on the last page was correct but each page of the report, except the final page, was missing what should have been the “last” order printed on that page. This was caused by the program logic used to determine if sufficient room existed for the number of orders on each page plus the signature line on the last page. This has been corrected.

Orders Entered Statistics Report - SCR 18610

A new report has been added to the report list called Orders Entered Statistics. It identifies the number of orders entered by the users on an hourly basis. The report is broken down by hour with each user listed with the number of orders they have entered during that hour. There is a summary on the last page of the report that gives a total number of orders entered by each user.

Order Info Report



An issue was found where strength and/or per amounts that were between 0 and 1 would display on the report as 0 instead of including the decimal places. The control of the decimal places for the strength/per is controlled by the inventory precision fields. This has been fixed.

Patient Account Statement Report - Ticket 177464

A problem was reported with the Patient Account Statement report in Ascend. In Ascend HI the patient account statement would summarize the balance after a specified number of days set on the Options tab of the report. This would help for patients that had lots of financial activity that was, for example, more than 90 days old. Recent activity on the report would include detail and activity greater than 90 days would only have a summary. The summary was not working in Ascend. This has been fixed in Ascend 2012.

Patient Notes Report

The following enhancements have been made for use with the new Patient Notes functionality.

Patient Notes Report

A new Patient Notes report has been added that identifies patients who have had profile notes entered on the Notes tab of the Profile screen. This will allow you to view and print a report of all patients and the corresponding profile notes. This was added as part of the Patient Note enhancement.

New Date Filter Added

A new date filter called Note Entered Date has been added to take advantage of the new notes table. Any report that uses the Notes table should have access to this filter.

New Note Type Filter Added

A new list Note Type filter has been added to take advantage of the new Notes table. Any report that uses the Notes table should have access to this filter.



Note Reminder Filter

A new Yes/No Reminder filter has been added to take advantage of the new Notes table. Any report that uses the Notes table should have access to this new filter.

Prescription Log Report - Ticket 178474, Ticket 175545



The Payer Type filter was incorrectly displaying in the filter list for some reports. This generated an error when filtering on Payer Type for the Prescription Log report. When the user clicked Add, an error message appeared that stated: “Error: 0 Description: Invalid column name ‘PayerTypeRef’”.

This has been fixed in 2012. The Payer Type filter should only appear in the list when it is available to use on the report.

Prescription Log with Cost Report - SCR 18100, Ticket 162788

The Ascend 2012 version of the "Prescription Log with Cost" report has been modified. In the new versions of this report, a Total Cost field has been added on the report totals page.
