Mark 12

29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord

our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and

with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment

greater than these."

See yourself in the same way as God does

1. God The Father Sees Us In His Own Image


Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over

the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all

the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the

image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and

said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the

ground." Genesis 1:26-28


Being created in His image & likeness means that we have this potential-like

eternal life


God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.

Genesis 1:31 (NIV)

He created us “very” good

2. God The Son Sees Us Through His Own Love And Sacrifice For Us


But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8


For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that

whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16


For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from

yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

3. God The Spirit Sees Us From The Inside


But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 14:26


"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the

Father, he will testify about me.

John 15:26


But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak

only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives

in you?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,

faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the

Spirit. Gal. 5:22-25


But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord,

because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the

sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

4. We Should See Ourselves In Sober Judgment


For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of

yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober

judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
