2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of media products? My magazine as well as the professional I placed a flash on magazine offer something free with themy image like Marie magazine, to attract the readers and make Claire have done, for people want to buy the magazine. Both mastheads are extra info andon the top of the page.attraction They are sticking to two mainThe models eye colours, so it line is in the top doesnt get boring third line, so their or too colourful eyes are staring and confusing. at you. And onlytheir hair is beingcovered bywriting. Both include the date on the right hand side/issueThey both keep to number.the rule of thirds, making sureeverything is equaland isnt squashedtogether There is a larger amount of headings on the left hand side, so you can see them on the shelf. Main heading to attract the reader in a bigger font than the otherI have placed a banner at the bottom of the front cover for any cover lines Marie Claire includes a barcode on the frontIncludes moreextras I want my audience to know about. And to fill any cover because you buy the magazine, where cover lines thanempty space at the bottom.as my magazine is freemy magazine 3. In what ways does your media productuse, develop or challenge forms and conventionsof media Like Marie Claire magazine, my mainbackground image is keeping to the mediumclose rule for front covers of magazines. I putthe masthead in the top, by keeping the ruleof thirds in mind, similar to magazines suchas harpers bazaar or Marie Claire, instead ofplacing it in the top left hand corner like redmagazine. I edited a 6 in the left handcorner of the main heading to make it morerelevant to the college, the importance ofthis is that it will be memorable andrecognisable to the reader, like the voguelogo, you can just see the first or secondletter and you know immediately whatmagazine you are looking at, another thing Idid was made sure the 6 is on the left so thatyou notice it on the shelf. A large amount ofmy cover lines are on the left hand side ofthe page. 4. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions ofmedia My magazine and Marie Claire are similar in the sense that they both alternate in two different colours, they both keep to the theme throughout the front cover and contents. I used the colour purple because it is the college colours and orange because it compliments the colour purple well. I didnt want the colours to clash because I want to attract the audiences attention in a positive way. Unlike Marie Claire I have used a range of fonts that are similar because I didnt want the magazine to be too bland, the main fonts I used were simhei for example, I used this font because its not too fancy which will make the magazine look unprofessional, however its not a boring font, it attracts the eye being in capital letters and bold, and the bold colouring. 5. In what ways does your media product use, develop orchallenge forms and conventions of media products?Heat uses their magazineThe both includename on the contents page Both magazines and its on the left hand side ofthe date and year. state the contents the magazine page, so the reader knows. Both magazines Bothobviously show magazines what page includes have tried to what information fill all emptyrelating to the spaces, soheadings on the that thefront or in the contents. My magazine unlike heat contains a editor letter, this makes it more personal to the reader. The both use boldcolours, heat are morebright than minebecause of the red andthe yellow. However Ihave kept the colourscheme from the frontcover onto the contents. Both magazinesinclude more than3 images, thismakes theEach image contains a caption,Heat magazine have more pages than my magazinecontents moreeither the page related orso they have more writing to fill their spacesinteresting andinforming you on what it is about. 6. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions ofmedia I made sure that in my contents pagethere was no empty spaces, so I tried tofill them with fonts by making thembigger, images and colour. I did thisbecause it makes the magazine lookunprofessional and boring, which may putthe reader off from carrying on throughthe magazine. I included three photos, allwith captions, either for the page relevantto the image or a reminder of somethinginvolved in the magazine. I even added aneditors message at the top of the contentspage, firstly because it is meant to be thevery first edition to student magazine, soits informing the readers what themagazine is going to be about and whatwill ne included in the magazine for therest of the issues, trying to grab theiraudience and make people pick it up andread it. 7. What have you learnt about technologies fromthe process of constructing this product? I learnt how to use the cameras and making sure that the photo is at the highest quality possible. I had to make sure that the photo fro my front cover was medium close up (MCU). I had to make sure that the photo wasnt fake and that the model I used didnt look uncomfortable,I also learnt how to useI learnt how to usebut natural and happy, so adobe Photoshop, toInDesign, to produce that the audience are not create my front cover.my contentsput off the product. I also For example editing thepage, and puttinglearnt how to transfer my 6 onto the studentthe front cover onto images from the camera to magazine heading.the same documentthe computer. 8. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I have learnt to use Photoshop and how to produce amagazine, but mainly how to re size an image by notdistorting it, by making them fit correctly withoutstretching and widening the images shape. I also learnt how to use in design, which I am not familiarat all with. Understanding layers in both Photoshop and in design. Making pictures or text spaced out exactly using the aligntool. Arranging the image of the page using the select tool. I know how to transfer images I have taken from thecamera to the USB port in the computer.
