The shot used here is an establishing shot to introduce to the audience where the film is set, the protagonist runs the columns of Liverpool’s St George’s Hall and so the audience can assume that the film is set in Liverpool. It can also be used to give the audience a sense of time; in this shot the lighting is naturally high key and so the audience will assume that it is set in day time.

The shot used to introduce the character is a medium shot which can be used to portray quite a lot of information about him. Firstly, he is wearing a school uniform which of course tell us that he is still in high school, revealing to an extent what age he is. Secondly, his has open body language showing that he is a confident person.

A low angle shot has been used here which shows the presence of someone with a higher power than the main protagonist. The fact that he is just waking up shows that the previous shots were of his dream and also the time of day that the scene is set; morning time.

This shot gives the audience a clue about what period of time this film is set in. The decor of the set is old fashioned meaning the character either lives with someone of a much older generation or is from a period where this was the conventional style; with the use of a sepia filter we could certainly say that this film is set in the past.

A close up has been used in this shot to show the audience that the harmonica will be used as an enigma throughout the storyline.

This medium shot briefly gives us an idea about the personality of this character. The slight smile on his face tells us that he is quite cheeky and that maybe he has tried to hide the fact that he has just given the harmonica to the other character from the others in the house.

This medium shot reveals the characters emotions by creating an emphasis on his facial expressions. By the shocked look on his face we can say that he is certainly pleased with the gift and is grateful for what he gets.

A medium shot has been used here to show the relationship between the two people. The close proxemics show the audience that the characters have a close relationship and are comfortable with each other, further proven by the fact that they both have their eyes closed which conventionally means that the person is passionate about the situation.

A medium shot has been used here to reveal the body language of the character and the emotions that are portrayed through them. She looks as though she has stopped in her tracks to witness what is going on between the two characters and her facial expression shows us that she is almost jealous.
