INTRODUCTION
My Media Studies Foundation Portfolio preproduction Task is to research into existing magazine producing companies. I will research into magazine products that are published by relevant companys and that are similar to the one I intend to design and make. Through this I will find out- what magazine companies produce fashion magazines, the demographics they cater for, other medias owned by the company, examples of cross media convergence and subsidiaries. Through this I will achieve an understanding of the corporations who publish fashion magazines. By taking notes of their publication styles and marketing techniques, I will be able to create a successful fashion magazine which fit in with the publications that existing companies are publishing.

SUMMARY
Through doing my research into existing media publications I have realised that global corporation such as Advanced Publications and Hearst Corporation publish, produce and own a variety of different media products/texts. Which can be identified by the similar logo fonts used by their companies- such as newspapers. They successfully appeal to many target different audiences either on a large market scale or specific niche market. Both companies produce similar publishing products that are aimed at same audience demographics. Each company is producing fashion orientated magazines that are well known and respected world wide. While doing this research I have noticed that the companies are producing magazines aimed at teenage audiences. Both publishing houses would be perfect companies to produce with, as they would both have the experience and power to successfully publish and market magazines similar to the one that I intend to design and make. They also have knowledge and marketing tools in place to aim my product at the appropriate target audience. Advanced Corporation is the 44th biggest privately owned company in the world, according to Forbes magazine, they produced the most successful magazines on todays market- such as Vogue and GQ. Advanced Corporation magazines are popular, current and in high demand showcasing that they clearly know how to attract the readers eye. On one hand I would like to publish my magazine with Advanced Publications, yet with my magazine design being similar to Teen Vogue, working in close proximity my main competitor could prove terminal for my magazines success. Seventeen magazine has been produced by Hearst corporation since 1944, meanwhile Advance Corporation have only been producing Teen Vogue since 2000. This shows that Hearst Corporation has years of experience in producing successful teen magazines, which would come in handy when marketing my magazine. Hearst Corporation produces mainly women magazines such as- Cosmopolitan, Elle and Harpers Bazaar. They however do produce Seventeen magazine that is a cheerful and young teen fashion magazine, in contrast the magazine I wish to create will be an editorial and high street fashion magazine aimed and older teens. Which concludes that Hearst Corporation would be the most appropriate publishing company to produce and market my magazine with.
