WHAT WAYS DOES MY MEDIA PRODUCT USE CONVENTIONS OF REAL

MEDIA PRODUCTS?

Page 3: As media evaluation

Music magazine My music magazine is similar to other conventional

magazines currently available to buy because the fonts I have you are similar to other magazines. Also the masthead I have used is the style you would see on a conventional magazine.

Page 4: As media evaluation

Music magazineHowever my magazine differs from conventional

magazines because my front cover does not have a main image. Most magazine on the market at the moment use a main image on the front cover.

College magazine

I researched other college magazines and found that they have a main image of an event that is taking place at the time of print. For this reason I used an image of the college building works as my main image. Again with this magazine I used bright colours to attract the attention of students around the college.

How my product represents a particular social group

AND

Who is my target audience?

Page 7: As media evaluation

The age group I am aiming my music magazine at is 14-18 year olds. The magazine is an indie music magazine so it would appeal to both male and females that are into indie music. This genre of music would also attract males and females outside of my target audience as this music is enjoyed by people in their twenties.

What kind of media institution might distribute my magazine?

Page 10: As media evaluation

Music magazineThe print industry in the main institution that would distribute my magazine. If I could edit my magazine into a smaller format the it could be distributed on smart phones, computers and

tablets. If I could edit my magazine so that it is of

professional quality, my magazine could be sold in news agents and supermarkets. I think that

places like WH Smith would also be able sell my magazine.

College magazine

There are two institution I would like to distribute my magazine, these are the print industry and college website. I think that the only shop that would sell my magazine would be the shop on college campus. I also feel that my magazine would do well as an online magazine made available through the college website.

How did I address/attract my audience?

Page 13: As media evaluation

Music magazine I used a plain background white text this

makes the text stand out from the page. This means that the reader knows what articles are in the magazine at a quick glance.

I used bright colours for my background so my magazine would be eye-catching if it was on a shelf with other magazine.

Page 16: As media evaluation

While constructing my magazine I have learnt how to use Quark express and Photoshop. Some of the tools I have used are the linking tool on Quark.

I also used the magic eraser on Photoshop.

What do I feel I have learnt in the progression from the start to the end

of the task?

Page 18: As media evaluation

While doing my media coursework, I have learnt how to use many professional editing tools such as Photoshop and quark express. I have also found that when used well Microsoft publisher can perform to a similar standard as professional software. I have also learned that many different music magazines have similar layouts but personalised their magazines with different fonts and colours.
