AS Foundation Portfolio

Ameen Qaderi

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

my products in media use forms and conventions of real media products because I have used my ancillary task to practise all the things that have seen in all the research I have done in the ‘product research’ section of my media portfolio. I used the band image analysis to help me get ideas for the images that I will use in my final product.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

my media product represents a particular social group because I have produced some market research which includes questionnaires on what type of music magazine people are in to and their age, gender etc. then I put all the results into different pie charts and I wrote a brief analysis of what the results showed. This all helped me to pick my target audience for my finished product and also the genre and style of music I chose to use in my final products came from the results of the questionnaire because i found out what the majority of people listen to and the average age group of the people that listen to it are.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

my magazine would fit the publishing house IPC Media because it uses similar fonts and house styles to magazines like ‘Uncut’. Its also quite formal like UNCUT and aimed an older audience but the magazine has things in it that will attract a younger audience also.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

• My main audience for my music magazine would be teenagers from the age of 16+ according to my market research, but I think the magazine itself has a much wider audience because of the house style and fonts used on the front cover and the contents page. So I think my target audience would be from the age of 16 – 35.

How did you attract/address your audience?

• I attracted my audience by using colours that contrast really well on my Front cover such as the red on the white and the white on the black, which helps catch the I of the consumer. Also the fronts I have used are not completely formal so it will not attract just one type of audience but a few different types of people. Also I included very ‘chatty’ language which will attract the teenage audience very well.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

• My progress through making my finished product has climbed very high. For example the first time I had ever used photo shop is when I did my ancillary task which in the end went quite well. But as I progressed through my course my photoshop skills developed and I was taught how to do new things as you can see the difference in my Final front cover.

• I also learned how to use Google Eblogger to upload all of my work onto which included using Slideshare to upload word files and power point files.

• Also I used the digital cameras to take the pictures that were used in my magazine.
