TISSUES
SIMPLE TISSUESIt is a type of permanent tissue. Which is
made up of one type of cells. It is homogenous nature. These are classified into
*Parenchyma
*Collenchyma
*Sclerenchyma
PARENCHYMA
• It is a living thin walled
simple permanent tissue.
• Parenchyma cells are
isodiametric and oval in shape.
• The cells is made up of
cellulose.
FUNCTIONS OF PARENCHYMA
• It store the food materials.
• It give rigidity to the plant body
based on the
turgidity condition of the cell.
• In fleshy stem of parenchyma
cells store water.
PARENCHYMA
COLLENCHYMA• It is a living thick-walled
simple permanent tissue.
• it is closely related to
parenchyma.
• The parenchyma cells has
a thickening. These
Thickening usually occurs
at the corners or angles
of the cells.
FUNCTIONS OF
COLLENCHYMA• It give mechanical support to the
plant organ.
• It help the plant to the bending and streching caused by wind.

SCLERENCHYMA• It is a dead thick
walled simple permanent tissue.
• It is composed of elongated or non-elongated cells which lack protoplasm.
• The cells walls are lignified and pitted.
FUNCTIONS OF
SCLERENCHYMA• It give mechanical support to the plant
body.
• It protect the plant from various strains and stresses of environmental forces.
• Fibres of fruits and seeds help in their dispersal by wind.
COMPLEX TISSUES• It is a type of
permanent tissue, which is composed of different types of cells.
• It is homogenous nature.
• Xylem and phloem are complex tissues found in vascular plants.
XYLEM• Xylem is a complex
conductive tissue,
conducting water and minerals elements from the root to other part of the plant.
• It also serves as mechanical tissue.
• Xylem is otherwise called wood.
XYLEM
PHLOEM• Phloem is a complex
conductive tissueconducting prepared food materials from the region of their synthesis to all other part of the plant.
• Phloem is otherwise called bast.
