GUIDELINESArunachal Pradesh Tourism Awards
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Arunachal Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh presents Arunachal Pradesh Tourism
Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry. These awards will be presented to district
administration, classified hotels, heritage hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators and tourist
transport operators, individuals and other private organizations in recognition of their performance in
their respective fields and also to encourage healthy competition with an aim to promoting tourism.
The selection of the awardees is made by Committees constituted for the purpose and the
decision of the Department of Tourism is final and binding. Applications have to be made in proper
forms, wherever specified
Arunachal Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh reserves the right to change the criteria,
the parameters for consideration and all other relevant provisions for selection of Awards from time to
time. The decision taken shall be at the sole discretion of the department of Tourism, Government of
Arunachal Pradesh and shall be treated as final.

CATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
* THE LIFELINE AWARD
CATEGORY IBest Tour Operator – I - Approved inbound
(department)
The selection of this award would be done on the basis of
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) accrued from handling
inbound tours, during April - March (2014 -2015 & 2015 - 2016).
Due weightage would be given for the growth rate achieved. The
selection would be made from the recognized Inbound Tour
Operators and Travel Agents. The President(s) or representatives
of Arunachal Association of Tour Operators or Travel Agents
Association of Arunachal Pradesh would be a part of the
committee to select best entries under this category. However, the
President or the office bearer of the Association nominated to the
selection committee would not be a nominee for Arunachal
Tourism Award.
The office bearer of the Association / representative in the
committee shall be an approved service provider of Ministry of
Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh. (optional)
The nominations are obliged to provide the following:
1.Photos and videos of the tours conducted
2.Copies of 3 best itineraries
3.Promotional and marketing plan
4.Five top tourists engaged. Their profiles
5.List of Arunachal bound tie-ups
NOMINATION CRITERIA
CATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
The following documents would have to be submitted along
with the entries for consideration of awards:
• Completed Nomination Application form
• A copy of letter indicating recognition/approval/renewal granted
by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
• All the financial documents, including the certificate regarding
total turnover of the relevant category for the last two financial
years, duly signed and stamped only by the Statutory Auditor of
the service provider.
• All documents should be self-certified by its Managing Director
/ Owner.
• Details of Tourist Arrivals (Inbound & Domestic tourists)
handled during the financial years April 2014– March 2015 &
April 2015 – March 2016.
• 3 Passport sized photographs of the person who would be
receiving the award (if the entry qualifies for the award)
CATEGORY IIBest Tour Operator- II- Arunachal based (department)
The selection of this award would be done on the basis of Annual
Turnover accrued from handling tours based in Arunachal
Pradesh, operated out of Arunachal Pradesh during April - March
(2015 -2016 & 2016 - 2017). Due weightage would be given for
the growth rate achieved. The selection would be made from the
recognized operators from Arunachal Pradesh. The President(s)
or representatives of Arunachal Association of Tour Operators
or Travel Agents Association of Arunachal Pradesh would be
a part of the committee to select best entries under this category.
NOMINATION CRITERIACATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
However, the President or the office bearer of the Association
nominated to the selection committee would not be a nominee for
Arunachal Tourism Award.

Criteria:
• The tour guide could be an expert from the field of cultural,
wildlife, birding or adventure.
• Tour guide should have a minimum experience of 5 years, as
an individual or with an organization guiding in Arunachal
Pradesh
• The entries are open to all.
The following documents would have to be submitted along
with the entries for consideration of awards:
• Note on your expertise, areas of tourism promotion and kind of
clients handled over the last one year
• Report on tours conducted and premise of operation- individual
or through an organization
• A draft establishing work experience in the field• No. of sites operated in.
• Recommendations by 1 or more tour operators
• Recommendation by an officer from Government of Arunachal
• Recommendation/ Testimonial by clients (tourist)
• Documentation- video, photos or publishing establishing your
participation
CATEGORY IVBest Contributing Officer (department)
Criteria:
• The tourism officer should have been holding the position for a
minimum of 3 years.
• The officer should have promoted and maintained Arunachal
Pradesh as a secure destination Handling of law and order
environment for the tourists
NOMINATION CRITERIA
CATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
• Participation in value addition programmes like seminars and
conferences related to tourism.
• Facilitated infrastructure and set up required for the tourism in
the region to develop
• Enabling healthy tourist interaction and assistance
• Involvement of community at level of decision making and
execution
Submission:• A report on projects carried out under the officer that had a
direct impact on tourism promotion of the region
• Photos, articles, press clipping and videos, if any .
CATEGORY VBest Accommodation: Hotel/homestay/resort
(department)
Selection of awardees in the accommodation category would be
evaluated on the basis of following criteria:
• Promotion of arts and crafts
• Civic management, facilities and cleanliness
• Number of local persons employed annually vis-à-vis the total
manpower of the hotel
• Features in the hotel/room
• Annual Revenue earned per room based on total gross turn
over earned
• % increase in annual revenue per room over previous year
• Foreign Guest stayed per room
• % Increase in foreign guest per room and corresponding year

CATEGORY VIAtithi Devo Bhava Award (department)
Tourism in the country has been growing manifold and the
numbers of visitors have also been increasing. There are various
instances when service providers as well as individual citizens in
India have gone beyond their call of duty in servicing their clients
viz. the travelers, affected by natural calamities like flood, fire,
earthquake and other incidents like terrorist attacks, theft etc.
With an objective to recognize this extra ordinary spirit of service
shown by the individuals/group of individuals or organizations, a
new category of award titled “AtithiDevoBhava” award has been
instituted to recognize acts of courage, bravery and/or exemplary
performance in the face of adversity in the fields of tourism, travel
and hospitality in the country.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
CATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
The nominations for the said category can be sent by the
following:
• State Governments/Union Territory Administration.
• Private (Corporate) Organizations/NGOs.
• Educational Institutions.
The awards will be considered for the following exemplary acts of
service performed:
• Helping tourists who are caught in natural calamities or
unforeseen incidents
• Preventing any act of violence against tourists.
• Drive preventing Garbage & Graffiti and promoting Cleanliness
in the country.
Submission of Entries:
The entry for the award is to be submitted with the following
details / documents (Incomplete entries without all details /
documents listed below will not be considered):
• Category for which entry is being submitted
• Complete name, address, contact details of the organization /
institution submitting the entry.
• Details of act of service/courage/bravery, etc. performed, for
which entry is submitted.
• Date of the incident / act of service.
• A brief synopsis (not more than 100 words) on the entry
• 3 Photographs and photograph in soft copy of the individual(s)
who has performed the act of service / courage / bravery.

• The project should be related to tourism focusing on
Arunachalee culture and heritage, or wildlife and birding,
adventure, development of the community .
• The tourism project should minimize negative economic, social
and environmental impacts.
• The project should integrate with the local community and
contribute positively towards enhancing the quality of life of the
local community.
• The project needs to have a responsibility for the benefit of
local community.
• While implementing the project special care has been taken for
Eco tourism, Waste Management, Community participations.
• The project should raise awareness among visitors and
influence them to enjoy resources sustainably.
• The project will be assessed on the reach and impact of the
project
Submission of Entries:
• The applicant could be an individual, a private organization, a
Governmental Agency or an NGO.
• The application should include a narration about the project
and its uniqueness.
• The project should have been in existence for at least one year.
• Pictures, brochures or other relevant material to be enclosed.

• The project should bring out Creativity/originality/uniqueness of
the innovation.
• The project should complement or enhance the range of
tourism products.
• Promote long-term growth in the tourism industry.
• Presentations would be required by shortlisted entries.
Submission of Entries:
• The applicant could be an individual, a private organization, a
Governmental Agency or an NGO.
• The application should include a narration about the project
and its uniqueness.
• The project should have been in existence for at least one year.
• Pictures, brochures or other relevant material to be enclosed.
• A brief description about the success of the project should be
enclosed, quantifying the benefits to the tourists, and benefits

The basis for selection of award in this category would be the
Implementation of the Eco - friendly concept in the field of tourism
promotion. Award Category weightage would be given to different
eco-friendly practices like:
• Tourism being used as a tool for conservation
• Sustainable engagement in energy and water saving practices
• Provide information and interpretive services to visitors
especially on local customs and traditions, prohibitions and
regulations
• minimize negative impacts on environment and culture of a
destination.
• Informing and discouraging tourists about purchasing
endangered animal and thus promotion anti-hunting and anti-
poaching mindset.
• Involving host local communities in the tour programmes and
directly support host community
• Organization should have a stated Code of Conduct and Ethics
for both the organization and the tourist.

• Relevance of the Film for promotion of Arunachal Tourism.
• Originality, novelty and focus on new tourism destinations /
products.
• The entry must be high quality video format.
The following parameters will be considered:
• The film made must help project Arunachal Pradesh as a
tourism destination thereby promoting tourist products and
services.
• Entries will be judged solely on the merit of the photograph,
subject treatment and motivational impact.
• The film maker should have visited Arunachal Pradesh.
• There should be sufficient circulation of the film featuring
Arunachal Pradesh.
• The film should have been produced during the period April
2015 to March, 2016
• Entries from Indian as well as foreign producers will be
considered

The award is constituted to recognize an exceptional photograph
of Arunachal Pradesh that covers mainly tourism in the fields of
wildlife, birding, adventure, art, culture and ethnicities.
Evaluation of Entries:
• The entries received will be judged on the basis of the following
parameters:
• Concept, theme and contents of the photograph
• Overall impact and effectiveness in communication of the
concept/ theme through the photograph.
• Relevance of the Photograph for promotion of Arunachal
Tourism.
• Originality, novelty and focus on new tourism destinations /
products.
The following parameters will be considered:
• The photographs taken must help project Arunachal Pradesh
as a tourism destination thereby promoting tourist products and
services.
• Entries will be judged solely on the merit of the photograph,

CATEGORY IExplorer of the Year (open)
In the last few years, Arunachal Pradesh has been exposed to
varied fields of exploration such as wildlife, birding, adventure, art
and culture. This has given rise to another important link in the
tourism industry- The explorer. A person who is driven by an
individual passion to explore the remotest state of India.
With an objective to recognize extra ordinary spirit of exploring
and promoting Arunachal Pradesh, a new category of award titled
“Arunachal Explorer of the year” award has been instituted to
recognize acts of courage, adventure, perseverance, sensitivity to
the local communities shown by individuals who took the first leap
of faith to explore the unchartered routes of Arunachal Pradesh.
To hear tales of exploration from a traveler, is the best promotion
for a state.
This category will be open to the entries which qualify the
following criteria and submission:
• Note of the travels made in Arunachal Pradesh with details of
the project or activity carried out.
• The activity could be in the fields of wildlife, birding, adventure-
hiking, water sports, mountaineering etc, A specific study on
Arunachal.
• The individual should have spent atleast three years of travel
into Arunachal Pradesh
• Account of travel through photos, blogs, films.
• Area of travel and time spent in each

• Impact story of the travel
• After a thorough filtration, top 50 categories will be chosen for
peoples’ choice voting on social media. The story that garners
the highest number of likes and is the most popular choice, will
be awarded for this category.
CATEGORY IIState Tourism Ambassador of the Year – Individual
Tourism Leadership Award (department)
• In his/her national or international participation and has been
able to represent Arunachal as an individual to the world, these
individual are the jewels of Arunachal who have represented
Arunachal as adventurers, journalists industry professional,
volunteer, politician, partner or media providing leadership and
support for the tourism industry.

CATEGORY IEmerging Destination of the Year – Honored by
Arunachal Tourism (department)
• A destination that has been able to generate interest in the
tourism market and shows maximum potential to turn into a
leading tourism destination of the state. This will be a
destination chosen by Arunachal Tourism to get the backing it
requires to become a sustainable tourism destination.
• Destination that has opened itself to tourism in the year 2015-
2016 and is making it to the wish list of world tourists. Films,
documentaries, volunteer tourism through multi activity, hiking.
It has potential and community to support this vision but lacks
infrastructure to support this influx of new tourists.

• Department can take this site for a year to aid the requirements
of the destination and divert necessary funds for creating a

A special award, to acknowledge work done by any individual or
organization that has promoted Arunachal Pradesh in a significant
way.

The entries will be judged on the basis of the following
criteria:
• Civic management of a destination
• Overall cleanliness of the tourist destination.
• Use of best waste management practices.
• Encouragement of re-use and recycling.
• Efficient traffic management.
• Encouragement to local communities and private enterprises to
take pride in their surroundings.
• Creation of tourist friendly infrastructure and other amenities.
• capability to strengthen rural livelihoods through the tourism
process, based on traditional craft, culture and natural heritage
• Local participation
• Tourist assistance
• Assessment of tourist footfall
• Tourism engaging activities- adventure, wildlife, culture etc

NOMINATION CRITERIA
CATEGORY OF AWARDS CRITERIA
The following documents would have to be submitted along
with the entries for consideration of awards:
• Completed Nomination Application form
• A copy of letter indicating recognition/approval/renewal granted
by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
• All the financial documents, including the certificate regarding
total turnover of the relevant category for the last two financial
years, duly signed and stamped only by the Statutory Auditor of
the service provider.
• All documents should be self-certified by its Managing Director
/ Owner.
• Details of Tourist Arrivals (Inbound & Domestic tourists)
handled during the financial years April 2014– March 2015 &
April 2015 – March 2016.
• 3 Passport sized photographs of the person who would be
receiving the award (if the entry qualifies for the award)
• The entries should be supported by relevant photographs/films.
• 3 best itenaries.
• 2 Testimonials from tourists furnished with complete name,
email id and phone number.
