Dear Parents/Caregivers Again I am planning for another new year. The years seem to fly by so quickly! If your family is not planning on being at South Kalgoorlie Primary School in 2017 or if you have a special educational request for your child, could you please let us know by emailing the school at [email protected] as soon as possible ? Every moment is a teaching moment..... As parents we often forget that our children's brains are sponges. They absorb everything. Children copy everything that parents do and say.....sometimes a scary thought! It is also a wonderful opportunity to remind them every day of the beauty around them, of how special they are and to teach them to help you around the house! Children need routines and responsibility. By the time they come to school they should be able to make their beds ( not perfectly) put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket, feed pets and put out rubbish. Important life skills for every child. Our Enterprise Day on Friday is promising to be a very special day. All the classrooms have prepared some fantastic enterprises and we hope to see many of you wonderful parents sharing your children's hard work. Hopefully the children have done their maths and worked out the profits! At South Kalgoorlie Primary School we try to involve the children in fundraising wherever possible. After all, this is their school and the funds go towards their resources. It should not be up to our few hard working P&C ladies to do the work. Just as children have responsibilities at home, we are giving them responsibilities at school. Next week is the last week of Term 3. I can't believe it! We have a School Board Meeting on Tuesday evening and a P&C Meeting on Wednesday evening. Today notes are going home asking for classroom representatives for the P&C. This person is not expected to attend meetings, we are looking at other ways that parents can support. Kath Grant Principal
Tool Tables
Another fantastic project by Steve, our Handyman and
Gardener. These tool tables will be placed in the Pre
Primary, Year One and Year Two areas to help with the
children's fine motor skills.

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS
In order to enrich the opportunities available to your child in school, The Department of Education under section 99 of the School Education Act 1999, permits schools to request that all parents/caregivers pay a voluntary contribution. The amount requested is determined in consultation with the School Board. Contributions for 2016 are set at a flat rate of $50 per student from Kindergarten to Year 6.
These funds are important if a school is to be able to budget effectively. Other fees are called for during the year for specific activities. A summary of proposed costs is produced annually and distributed to parents.
