Mrs. Johnson presented the articles written up on Rene Marie and advised using some of
the reviews for our publicity of her performance for the Arts Council next season.

should have already received them.
B. 2014/2015 Cultural Fund Season Calendar and Financial Review
The committee discussed the following events:
Mrs. Johnson stated that the Town has drafted a separate contract for the Cultural Events
fund and is in the process of being reviewed by the Town attorney. She will distribute a
copy to the committee once it has been approved. She stated that going forward the
Cultural Events Fund will be referred to as the CEF.
Mrs. Johnson stated that Mr. Blizard had been working with the Moranz group on the
Shake Rattle and Roll event but that she is temporarily helping in Mr. Blizard’s absence.
She has spoken to Barbara Steel and she has given the dates of April 3rd
, 6th
or 7th
or May
11th
. The Moranz group can do the April 6th
or 7th
2015. The committee discussed and
decided April 7th
would be the best date.
Mrs. Johnson stated that the dates available for the “Jazz Inspired by Kiawah” by Judy
Carmichael are either March 2nd
-4th
or March 30th
- April 1st. The committee advised the
best dates would be March 30th
– April 1st because it doesn’t conflict with the Sophie Shao
and Jason D. Williams events. This event will consist of Ms. Carmichael holding two 75
minute live broadcasts on two days in front of an audience at the River Course Clubhouse.
Ms. Carmichael will be interviewing a couple of different jazz performers and they will
perform short snippets during the interview. The evening of third day of the event Ms.
Carmichael will be perform a concert. She will arrange for a Steinway piano. Ms.
Carmichael will do a lot of her own publicity but the committee will want to advertise this
event through the news paper for a larger publicity reach. The total attendance for this
event would be 200+. The performance would be 300. This would require an additional
100 chair rental.
Mrs. Johnson stated for the Cultural Events Fund events, the venue, piano rentals, and
lodging will be arranged and paid for by the Town and will be deducted from awarded
event cost.
The Piccolo events are matching dollars from the City of Cultural affairs and The Town.
