Introduction
It is very important to teach the students articles. Articles are one of the basics of grammar.
First, I will explain what are articles and the two kinds of it . Then, I will give the students some examples and activities to make sure that they understood the lesson.
The Purpose of the Activity:The purpose of this activity is to teach the students articles and its types, and make them know how and when they use it in their speech or writing.
Incorporating the activity in the lesson:To incorporate the activity in the lesson: First of all, I will explain the lesson with clear examples. Then, we will solve the activities together. At the end of the class, I will make a revision to make sure that all students understand.
The benefits of the activity: It will help the students to identify the different
types of articles and to know the uses of it. Students will be able to effectively communicate
their thoughts and ideas with others.
English has two articles: the and a/an.

Definite article
Indefinite article
The A/An
‘A’ is used:
Before a word which begins with
a consonante.g.: a woman
Before a singular, countable noune.g.: a banana
When we mention something for the
first time.e.g.: I saw a dog.

• Before a noun which begins with a vowel. e.g.: an apple
• Before a word which begins with a vowel sound or a silent ‘h’. e.g.: an hour
‘An’ is used:Indefinite Article

A and an are also used when talking about your profession:For Example:
"I am an English teacher." "I am a doctor."
‘The’ is used:When the same thing or person mentioned
again.e.g.: I bought an orange. The orange is sweet.
When there is only one such thing. e.g.: the earth, the sun
Before the names of famous buildings, etc. e.g.: The Eiffel Tower
When a singular noun is used to point out a whole class, race, group, etc.
e.g.: The bear is a strong animal.
Before the special names of a rivers, seas, oceans, mountain ranges, countries, etc.e.g.: the U.S.A., The Pacific Ocean, etc.
Before an adjective when the noun is understood.
e.g.: The poor need help.
‘The’ is used:

Before the name of a
place, town, country, or
road.e.g.:
Barcelona is a beautiful city.
Before names of materials.
e.g.: Gold is found in
Australia.
Before abstract
nouns used in a general
