Conventional medicine has determined arthritis to be a form ofjoint disorder that

involves inflammationof oneormorejoints. Thereare twomain typesof arthritis

osteoarthritisandrheumatoidarthritis.

Osteoarthritisisconsideredtobeadegenerativejointdiseaseasresultoftraumatothe

joint,infectionofthejoint,orage. Thereisnosinglecause,butitisbelievedsevera

factors are involved in the disease, including genes, weight, injury, and overuse. In

osteoarthritis,thereisabreakdowninthecartilagecoveringtheendsofboneswhere

theymeet

to

form

ajoint

and

allow

lubricated

movement.

As

the

cartilage

wears

away

the bones become exposed and rub against each othercausing pain, swelling, andstiffness.

Rheumatoid arthritis is thought to be a chronic inflammatory disorder that typically

affectsthesmalljoints inyourhandsand feet. Unlike thewearandteardamageof

osteoarthritis,rheumatoidarthritisaffectsthe liningofyourjoints,causingapainfu
