Each month, Guild members have a chance to enter one piece of their artwork in a mini competition at each general meeting. Members vote to determine the top four pieces. Winners are designated Artists of the Month and their artwork is featured here and is exhibited at participating venues in the community.

Guild members may enter only one piece and must be present at the general meeting. If it is a painting, it must be framed in a professional manner and ready to hang with a wire hanger (no sawtooth hangers).

Photos will be taken at the meeting for the newsletter.

What Members are Doing

Carol Hall is

a volunteer

at St. Joe's

Admitting East

Tower Lobby.

Recently, Carol

witnessed

a young

boy being

admitted.

Last month, Karen Angell had

donated several bags that she

had made to St. Joe’s Kids.

Carol gave him one of Karen’s

bags filled with art supplies and

a small stuffed animal. Later,

Carol saw the boy in his room

with all of the supplies and the

stuffed animal spread out on his

bed. Because of this gift, the child had a big smile on his face, and was not nearly as frightened of being admitted to the hospital.

Carol was so impressed with this kind generosity that she came to Whatcom Art Market to thank Karen personally. Karen wasn't at WAM at the time, but Carol's

thanks were passed along to her.

A big thank you to Genora Powell

and Julie Mortimer for putting this all

together and filling the bag with the

small stuffed toy and art supplies. It

was a big hit and truly appreciated.
