Art Therapy Project - Albertslund Ungecenter - Denmark - 2014

Sculptures and poetryA Sculpture bank in our town is the inspiration for this project. We began with a guided tour in the exhibition.

My inner Swine

Species: Animal with the lowest instinct.

Place: In you and me i.e. in every individual of Homo Sapiens

Growth: It grows when people are exposed to violence, degrading and disrespectful treatment

Behaviour: Attacks peoples ethical values, and lets racism, Xenophobia and intolerance take over.

Spread: Can completely take over in the individual person, in social groups and in extreme cases entire peoples.

Back in the workshop…We begin our own work


The boys are very busy…They work on soapstone which feels very much like any stone but is softer and easy to cut, sand and drill holes into


We talk about finding the sculpture inside the stoneWhat does it look like? Remove all the extra material.


Some of the boys work for hours without even noticing…This boy made one little sculpture after the other. After doing no. 3 we agreed that he will do more work on the fourth.


It’s a bird… he says!


Sculptures are very good for the more energetic and tactile studentsSome of our students have ADHD, ADD, some have learning difficulties and other suffer from Anxiety or other psychological difficulties.


The students experience sculptures in many forms and shapesSo they use their senses and when we include poetry in the lessons, they suddenly connect these sensations in a new way
