Our Jurors:

Lisa Haque Website>>Los Angeles has been Lisa’s home for the past 15 years, and she has recently decided to return to her English roots.  Born in London, the daughter of a textile manufacturer, Lisa spent her early childhood with a paintbrush in her hand conceptualizing print designs for the following seasons' runways. Her studies were centered around the classical arts in which she excelled in art history, painting and literature. Lisa moved to L.A. to attend UCLA where she took English (lit) & French (lit/lang) for her Bachelor of Arts degree (studying abroad in both programs). She also qualified as multi-media designer, which she used to work as a graphic artist designing corporate identities, websites, and marketing materials for the following 10 years.

Photography has always been an application in which Lisa’s creative eye has developed and thrived. She’s been honing her skill in recent years capturing tender moments between children and families, and her most inspired work to date was of the wildlife on the trip to Tanzania in late 2009.  Lisa is excited to be back in London to jump into the local art scene, experience and explore Europe (and beyond) with the camera, and start exhibiting her work.

"Hope"Oil On Canvas, 28”x20”

Fantasy World Contest

1st Place

I am a self taught Painter working in the medium of oils. In my paintings I explore the inner landscapes of memories and emotions. I may start with an idea and intention, but overtime, as I sit down each time to paint free association takes over. In many ways the image is no longer mine as I allow it free  reign. In the end though it somehow makes perfect sense to me. It is private and I think everyone see something different and personal in my paintings. I also explore colours and their effects on mood and impact. Often my colours will repeatedly change until I find the right tones that suit the feeling  I  want to convey. I use metaphors drawn from everyday situations . Politics and women's issues inform many of the ideas that seep in to my work. I believe in the end though that the viewer should be the one to interpret what they see. As I absorb and interpret everything around me , it is always illuminated by my own subjective analysis. If I can hold your attention, even if it is disquieting then I have succeeded.

"Connection"Acrylic On Canvas, 50x70 cm

Fantasy World Contest

2nd Place

Painting is a passion for me and is the way I can express my feelings, thoughts, visions I have in my mind and what is very important for me - do this in the way I want, in the way I see the world around me. I haven't set any boundaries for myself and don't have a constant style - I'm creating; inspired by the current moment, because it is always great to find something new and get results you don't expect.I would like people to interpret and feel my paintings, dive into them and see the world we see around us every day in a very different way.

Audrey Dawn

"Reginald's Rage"

Fantasy World Contest

3rd Place

Audrey was born with an ability to look at things in the brightest of light.  This light has reflected in her abilities to bring to life wondrous and captive images.  Her art has transformed throughout the years and come to be a display of vibrant color with interesting lines.  She is a mother first and artist second, and enjoys teaching her children how to be creative and imaginative with color.  Though she has never had any formal training, she is always self improving and finding inspiration from the simple joys in her life.

“Untitled"

Go Figure… Contest

2nd Place

Since I began painting, I experienced a strong inspiration and passion for love, feelings and a simple life that I try to express in my own unique way. When I begin painting, the pallet fills with colour and my creative imagination flows like a volcano when it erupts and explodes free.

I strongly believe that each artist has a great message for the world. Our expressions, ways and styles of painting are the words of those who can't speak, those who can't cry, those who can't smile, those who can't love, and those who died without the opportunity to live.
