III. Justification for ChangeThis change clarifies the structure of the program relative to the requiredadmission portfolio. To be fully accepted as art majors, students must pass aportfolio review, the Entrance Portfolio. Students may submit the portfolio at

designated times each semester up to or concurrent with their enrollment in ART1100 and ART 1150. They may also submit the portfolio after completing thesetwo classes. However, they may not proceed into any additional studio artclasses until they have passed this portfolio review. The subsequent classes inthe studio foundations sequence after ART 1100 and 1150 are ART 1200, ART2150, and ART 2550. (Later classes will require one of these three as a pre-requisite, so this chane is not needed there.) In practical terms, this new pre-requisite limits enrollment to students who have been changed in Banner from

ART-INTEREST to ARTwhich happens after successfully passing the portfolioreview and being formally admitted into the art major.
