ARSENAL ‘ON THE MOVE’ MASTERPLAN - CZWG€¦ · CZWG ARCHITECTS LLP When Arsenal Football Club...

CZWG ARCHITECTS LLP When Arsenal Football Club made the decision to move from Highbury Stadium to the new Emirates Stadium, rather than leave the surrounding area to piecemeal developments, the Club extended their remit to a major regeneration plan for a wide area around the stadium. The masterplan ‘Arsenal on the Move’ included plans for a metropolitan mix of commercial space, other sport and leisure uses, community health facilities, and market and affordable housing. The total number of buildings that were designed at masterplan stage were around 50 and the plan was to deliver up to 2000 new homes and two additional student accommodation buildings. The constituent buildings were designed to a high degree within the plan, and CZWG has since taken three schemes (and over 1600 homes) through to completion. Queensland Road, completed in February 2015, is the latest piece of the masterplan to come to fruition, delivering 729 homes (50% Affordable) and a revitalised street setting.
