The combat exercise

Aim of the exercise • Training of armoured troops as a part of a Battalion Battle

Group in a meeting engagement Secondary aims • Training of troops in the use of armoured reconnaissance

and UAVs • Training of troops to operate under enemy air threat • Training of troops to operate under electronic warfare • Training of troops in the use of close air support • Training of troops in co-operation with multi-national forces

Methods of training • Extensive use of combat-simulation equipment • Short engagements - engagements halted and repeated if

needed • Prompt feedback and analysis after engagements • Use of overlapping objectives and restricting boundaries to

create engagements
