Aava transforms the essential and efficient to an evocative form. Soft curves yield a contemporary silhouette that is both striking yet sensitive, an adaptive form that can speak or assimilate to any environment. From the original wooden collection, Aava’s line has expanded to include the polypropylene shell in a soft, elegant range of colors lending quiet sophistication to Aava’s fluid lines.Suitable for both residential and contract use, Aava comes in different materials, colors and finishes.Skillfully shaped in variable thicknesses enhancing its sinuous silhouette, its shell is made of polypropylene or plywood veneered with birch wood effect. Aava is available in different finishes: natural, black, white, oak or walnut effect, beech wood, or with upholstery in fabric, leather and faux leather (either entirely upholstered or with front face upholstery).Bases include wooden leg version, sled version or chromed 4 leg version, with or without armrests. The chromed 4 leg and sled base versions are stackable to allow large-scale use and easy storage.

Antti Kotilainen, 2013

Design Office Antti Kotilainen was founded 1997 in Helsinki. Characteristic for Kotilainen’s design work is organic functionalism set to meet contemporary qualifications. Behind his work is a drive to refine technical issues and details into aesthetics of the final product. His aim is to compose designs that look as effortless as they look essential. In the best Scandinavian tradition Kotilainen has explored new ways to work with wood in numerous of his furniture designs. Aava is the result of our first collaboration.
