Coming from a family jewellery background Aron initially spent some time training as a sound engineer at the Button Factory in Dublin but found that his interest really lay with design and making. He decided to sit at the bench and learn from his grandfather Des Browne; a jeweller from Portlaoise, who spent time teaching Aron techniques in jewellery making and repairing. Subsequently this led to Aron’s acceptance on to the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s Jewellery & Goldsmithing Skills & Design Course in Kilkenny. Aron draws his inspiration from architecturally interesting buildings and geometrical shaped objects old and new. Beautiful gems, working with all the different types of metal and creating something new and original has been an unending source of fascination for Aron. He has thoroughly enjoyed his training in Kilkenny and also very much appreciates the skills he learned from his grandfather. ARON BROWNE ARTIST STATEMENT: As a maker I love the affect a well made piece of jewellery has on people. I get an immense sense of satisfaction from taking these crude materials from the earth and combining them into a piece of wonder and intrigue.
