The men's lacrosse team clinched the No. 4 seed in this year's field of six and plays host to No. 5 Holy Cross on Tuesday aſternoon. • The Black Knights reached 10 wins for the fiſth me under Joe Alberici, four of which came in the last five seasons. • Army and Holy Cross faced off in mid March this season with the Black Knights sneaking away with a 7-6 road victory. • The Crusaders led aſter the third quarter, but the Black Knights rallied back and outscored Holy Cross 3-1 in the final quarter for the victory. • The Cadets are ranked 18/19 in this week's naonal polls aſter finishing the regular season at 10-4 and 5-3 in the Patriot League. • The Crusaders were 7-6 overall and 4-4 in league play. OPENING FACEOFF • This will be the first postseason meeng between the two squads. • Army leads Holy Cross 28-1 in the overall series. • The Black Knights have not allowed more than seven goals in a contest with the Crusaders in the last eight meengs. • Overall, Army has outscored Holy Cross 407-153. POSTSEASON HONORS • Aſter a standout senior season, Johnny Surdick was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. • Surdick also achieved First Team All-Patriot League recogni- on. • Freshman Brendan Nichtern, junior Ma Manown, junior Tom Rigney and senior AJ Barreo received second team hon- ors. • Surdick is a three-me All-Patriot League First Team selecon and a two-me Preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. • Nichtern has been the anchor of the Black Knights' offen- sive tempo with big games against ranked opponents, and has scored at least one point in all 14 contests. • Manown earned his first postseason accolade as he received a second team nod. The Saunderstown, R.I., nave was the Black Knights' top midfielder this year with 10 mul-point games. • Rigney stepped into a starng defensive role for Army this season aſter playing in eight games prior to his junior year. • For the second me in his career, Barreo earned second team recognion. ArmyWest Point reached 10wins for the sec-ondtimeunderAlbericiandsawGlesener,SamSomers and Austin Schultz garner All-AmericahonorsfromtheUSILA.Somerswasnamedthe2015PatriotLeagueGoalkeeperoftheYearafterleadingtheconferenceingoalsagainstaverage.TheBlackKnightsalsoput19playersonthePa-triot League Honor Roll Abigreasonfortheoverallrecordof9-5in2014wasthedefensivesideofthefieldastheBlack Knights were the top-ranked defensiveunitin2014,allowing7.21goalspergame.Armyfaced three ranked teams during 2014 and allthreegamesweredecidedbyonegoal,includinggames on the road against No. 2 Loyola and No. 5NotreDame.TheBlackKnightsdefeatedNavyfor the sixth straight year aswell. In his first season as head coach, Albericiled the Black Knights to their second straightappearance in the Patriot League TournamentChampionship game.
