ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2018-19
“Talent wins games, but team-work and intelligence wins championships”, Sports Day is a
platform to showcase the talents and efforts put in by the students to make it a successful
event. Sports is all about having fun, being physically active, learning the basics of sports and
building co-ordination and motor skills and to display their self confidence, patience, zeal and
sportsmanship. Keeping the same in mind, Army Institute of Education organized Annual Sports
Meet 2018-19 on 05 March 2019.
The event saw the blessings of Dr Tania Gupta, Principal AIE, Cmde (Dr) Vivek Chawla, Director
AIMT and Col BK Bhardwaj, Registrar AIE. Dr Tania Gupta, Principal felicitated Mr Jai Kumar,
Assistant Professor, FIMT, New Delhi, who was invited as Judge for the events, and motivated
student-teachers for learning life lessons and exhibiting sportsmanship spirit through sports.
She also spoke about ethos, virtues and emphasized on inculcating comrardeship in life. Cmde
(Dr) Vivek Chawla, Director AIMT highlighted the importance of sports in budding teachers life.
Customary torch lighting was done by the dignitaries along with sports student
representatives. After that Principal AIE declared the Sports Meet open.
The event started with the March Past by all the four houses, where the students synchronized with their house members on the beats of drums. The day saw plethora of events which began with track events, 100 mtr Race, 200 mtr Race, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Table- Tennis, Long Jump, High Jump, 4*100 mtr Relay Race, Tug of War etc. The student- teachers exhibited true sportsmanship by participating in all the events with full vigour and zeal and came out with flying colours.
Chief Guest of the day, Ms Suman Shokeen, 2 times Asian Gold Medallist in Kabbadi and Rajiv Gandhi State Sports Awardee, motivated the students with her inspiring words and encouraged them to nurture themselves as good leaders.
