Armour's Pork Shoulder Picnics are sometimes mistaken forham due to its similar shape and flavor. Picnics are actually pro-duced from the front shoulder of a hog. This flavorful cut of meatis not only available in the 1112 lb. size, but in a 3 lb. container aswell. Both sizes are packed in a convenient plastic container withan easy-open, "zip-top"@ lid.

Armour canned meats are fUlly cooked and boneless. They areweighed, sealed in the can and then cooked. A small amount ofnatural unflavored dry gelatin is added to the hams and picnicsbefore sealing to absorb the natural juices during cooking. Uponcooling, the gelatin "sets". Heat hams and picnics with gelatinbut remove gelatin before serving cold. This unused gelatin canbe kept in the refrigerator to be used at a later date for seasoningsauces and gravies.

Armour canned meats are processed to pasteurization temper-ature and require refrigeration. They are labeled" PERISHABLE-KEEPREFRIGERATED''. They are vacuum sealed in metal or plasticcontainers and may be refrigerated unopened up to 12 months.Onceopened, tightly wrap unused portion in plastic wrap; refriger-ate up to 1 week. Freezing is not recommended as it causes flavorand texture changes.

1 lb. Armour Star Spiced Luncheon Meat, cut in 1-inch cubes2 apples, cored, cut in wedges

1V2 cups grape juice1 tablespoon freeze-dried chivesV3 cup sweet and sour sauce

Thread luncheon meat and apple wedges alternately onto skewers.Arrange in a single layer in a shallow pan; pour grape Juice overkabobs. Sprinkle with chives; cover pan Marinate overnight. Heatcoals in hibachi following manufacturer's directions. Grill kabobs,turning and brushing with marinade, 15 minutes. Brush kabobs withsweet and sour sauce; grill 5 minutes.
