Business Valuation
Pronouncements from the FASB and IRS have required companies to determine the value of equity issued as compensation. Additionally, the reporting of acquisitions for financial statements has evolved over the past few years. Our reports consistently meet the standards set by auditors and regulatory agencies. We also perform business valuation for shareholder buy-outs and other transitions. We often value companies with complex capital structures and work with company management as well as outside auditors to ensure our reports are routinely accepted.
Litigation Support Services
Our Litigation Support Services team performs valuation in connection with litigated matters, either working for one of the parties in dispute or as the court-
appointed neutral expert. In dispute resolution, we work to negotiate agreements before matters are submitted for trial. Our group works with some of the leading law firms in the Bay Area. In fact, we have been retained in more than 600 litigated matters and have team members who have qualified as experts in courts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Estate and Gift Tax Valuation
In transitioning a business to the next generation, valuation is required to meet the adequate documentation requirements put forth by the Internal Revenue Code. Using a “fair market value” standard, our Valuation Services team considers all adjustments necessary to reflect the lack of control and marketability often found in closely-held businesses. We have been performing valuation for Estate & Gift tax purposes since early 1994.
M&A and Shareholder Buy-Out Valuation
We regularly perform valuation for acquisitions of equity interests in a wide variety of businesses. These valuations are done for the purposes of the sale of a business, a shareholder or partner buy-out, or the valuation of partial interests in businesses for negotiations and settlement purposes.
