Wow! What a wet summer! With all of this rain we’ve had in Hampton Roads this summer, I will need to purchase a boat just to get out of my home and down the driveway. To all of my fellow members, I am hoping that you had a wonderful summer filled with great vacations and travels. For those I haven’t heard from, I can’t wait to hear your stories. As many of you know, I will be serving as your chapter President for the 2012-2013 year and I want to welcome you all to a new year. I look forward to working closely with each and every member and non-member. Your cur-rent Chapter board has been meeting all summer long working on securing topics and speakers that will resonate with the current issues that we all are currently facing and those hot topics that are brewing in the forecast. In my life, I’ve been taught that in or-der to lead and move forward, you need to surround yourself with greatness and like-minds, and during my three years of being a member of this Chap-ter, I am so proud to say that this is true about our membership roster. Our Chapter members represent di-verse records management fields and industries, and that diversity is what makes this Chapter so great. I could not ask for a better group of profession-als to associate with. I am not alone

when I say that I look forward to, not only learning from our monthly meeting top-ics, but also fellowship-ping and collaborating with our members. This year I am pleased to be working with a very knowledgeable board. Vice President: Vivian Washing-

ton, MA, MLIS Secretary: Georgia Ann McQuigg Treasure: Barbara Ann Vinson-

Ratliff Past President: Kim Kindrew,

CRM Remember, our monthly meetings are a great way to network and share in-formation. Your help is needed to in-crease our chapter membership so, please bring a friend or co-worker to the meetings. There are still a couple of committees that need volunteers. If you are inter-ested in volunteering for a committee please let me know. I look forward to seeing everyone at the September meeting.

Installation ceremony like a trip to Paris: ooh la la!

Once again, Darlene Barber outdid herself in her presentation of the final Chapter meeting of the 2011-2012 year. Working closely with Wadiya Saunders, Awards Committee Chair and Immediate Past President, Darlene Barber transformed the Bay-port Credit Union board room into a Parisian delight. Award recipients were Angela

Diggs and Georgia McQuigg. Angela Diggs was honored by the Awards Committee as Chapter Member of the Year for her hard work and dedication to the Chapter as Treasurer and member. Georgia McQuigg received the Unsung Hero of the Year award for her efforts with the Chapter Project, aiding the Swem Li-brary’s transcription project of "From

Fights to Rights: The Long Road to a More Perfect Union.” In addition to the awards pres-entation, the outgoing board of direc-tors was released and the incoming board received its charge from Angela Diggs, one of the Chapter’s past presi-dents.

About the Institute of Certified Records Managers

The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) is an international certifying organization of and for professional records and information managers. The ICRM was incorporated in 1975 to meet the requirement to have a standard by which persons involved in records and information management could be measured, accredited and recognized according to criteria of experience and capability established by their peers. The ICRM is an independent non-profit organization administered by a Board of Re-gents.
