THE HOME STRETCH: The Dodgers continue a 10-game homestand
(3-3) tonight with the first of four games against the Arizona
Diamondbacks in the final meetings of the year between the two clubs.
Los Angeles opened the homestand by winning two of three games from
the Rockies before dropping its series against the Pirates this past
weekend, marking the club’s first series loss since being swept in
Houston Aug. 21-23. Following the Arizona series, the Dodgers will
depart for their final road trip of the year, a seven-game trek to Colorado
and San Francisco.
The Dodgers’ magic number sits at seven to clinch their third
consecutive NL West title and reach the postseason for the third
year in a row, a feat that has never been accomplished in
franchise history.
Los Angeles leads the Majors with an 18-7 record (.720) since
Aug. 25. and has gone 12-6 (.667) in 18 September games.
The Dodgers have only 14 games remaining in the 2015 regular
season, which will all be played against divisional opponents.
Los Angeles has gone 39-23 (.629) against NL West clubs this
year, on pace for its fourth-best all-time divisional record:
Dodgers’ Winning Pct. vs. NL West
1974 .700 (63-27)
2014 .658 (50-26)
2009 .639 (46-26)
2015 .629 (39-23)
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: The Dodgers have gone 6-0 against the
D-backs in Los Angeles this year and have won nine in a row over
Arizona at Dodger Stadium dating to Sept. 5, 2014. It marks the Dodgers’
longest home winning streak vs. the D-backs in the history of the series
and the club’s longest run against any opponent at Dodger Stadium since
winning 10 in a row over the Padres from July 8, 2011-July 13, 2012.
With seven games remaining at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers
continue to have the best home winning percentage in Los
Angeles history at .676 (50-24):
Dodgers’ Best Home Winning Pct.
The Los Angeles Dodgers record for home wins in a season is
55, set by the 1980 squad. The Dodgers can break that record by
going at least 6-1 in their final seven home contests.
Prior to this weekend’s series loss to the Pirates, the Dodgers
had been unbeaten in their previous nine home series (8-0-1), as
the club lost its first home series since dropping two of three
games to the Mets July 3-5. Overall, the Dodgers have a 17-4-3
home series record.
The Dodgers need a win tonight to avoid tying their longest
home losing streak of the season, a three-game slide May 27-
June 5 against the Braves and Cardinals.
ROUND-TRIPPERS: The Dodgers continue to lead the National League
with 174 home runs as eight different players – Adrian Gonzalez (27),
Joc Pederson (25), Yasmani Grandal (15), Justin Turner (15), Andre
Ethier (13), Jimmy Rollins (13), Alez Guerrero (11) and Yasiel Puig
(11) – have slugged double-digit home runs this season, one shy of the
most in franchise history:
Dodgers, Most Players w/ 10+ Home Runs in Season – All-Time
2004 9
2015 8
1979 8
1961 8
1953 8
Source: Stats, LLC
Howie Kendrick is one homer shy of joining this group with
nine home runs in 107 games.
ON THE CUSP: Jimmy Rollins has been used sparingly over the last
two weeks as he continues to recover from a sprained right index finger,
but enters tonight’s game with 2,414 career hits, one shy of tying Mickey
Mantle (2,415) for the 14th most hits ever by a switch-hitter.
Andre Ethier, a .328 career hitter (174-for-531) in 150 games
against his hometown D-backs, enters today’s contest just one
double shy of 300 for his career and would become just the
fourth Los Angeles Dodger to reach that mark, joining Steve
Garvey (333), Willie Davis (321) and Eric Karros (302).
STRONG IMPRESSION: Corey Seager has made 15 starts and has
reached base in all 15, tying the longest such streak in Los Angeles
Dodgers history:
LA Dodgers, Most Consec Starts Reaching Base to Start Career
(Since 1958; via hit, walk or HBP)
Corey Seager 15 09/03/2015 - Current
Bill Russell 15 04/11/1969 - 04/27/1969
Hiram Bocachica 12 09/20/2000 - 05/29/2001

Al Ferrara 12 08/07/1963 - 05/05/1965
Source: Stats, LLC
The last Dodger in franchise history to reach base in his first
16+ career starts was Jim Gilliam in 1953 (24).
Seager has gone 22-for-58 (.379) with a .478 on-base
percentage, seven doubles, two homers and 10 RBI in 16 games
(15 starts) with the Dodgers. His 22 hits are tied for the fourth
most by a Dodger through their first 16 career games.
ON THE HILL: Brett Anderson will make his 29th start of the season
tonight and has a history of finishing the season on a high note with an 11-
4 record and a 2.48 ERA (30 ER/108.2 IP) in 18 career regular-season
starts in September/October. Anderson’s September/October ERA as a
starter is the fourth-lowest mark among active pitchers:
Active Players, Lowest ERA as Starter in September/October
(regular season only; minimum 100 IP; current team listed)
Kris Medlen, KC 1.68
Clayton Kershaw, LAD 1.97
Stephen Strasburg, Was 2.08
Brett Anderson, LAD 2.48 (30/108.2)
Madison Bumgarner, SF 2.55
Source: Stats, LLC
Anderson continues to lead the Majors with a 66.7% groundball
percentage this year.
THE ‘PEN: The Dodger bullpen fired 4.2 scoreless innings yesterday and
has not allowed a run in the club’s last four games (9.2 IP). Los Angeles
relievers have posted the Majors’ sixth-lowest ERA this month (3.39),
allowing 23 runs (22 earned runs) in 58.1 innings.
Yimi Garcia tossed 0.2 scoreless innings yesterday and has not
allowed a run in his last nine games (8.2 IP) since Aug. 21,
limiting hitters to a .103 average (3-for-29) with a 0.35 WHIP in
that span.
