ACP Meeting GreetingsDear Colleague,

The field of Internal Medicine is constantly changing, and this significantly impactsmany areas of our practice. State-of-the -art treatments and approaches such as biologics for rheumatologic disorders and antivirals for hepatitis or HPV appear almost yearly. Scientific advances have also brought exciting new approaches such as precision medicine into our treatment regimens.

As healthcare providers, we are entrusted to manage a vast array of disorders that spanthe spectrum of medicine. Our goal is to ensure that you are aware of the current approaches and solutions for the diagnosis and management of the challenging disorders you face daily.

There is appreciable uncertainty about the future of both undergraduate and graduate medical education. Our program will explore some of the complexities of the challenges facing medical education leadership today.

Reportedly, over half of the physicians in the United States experience burnout. The loss of enthusiasmfor work and decreased sense of personal accomplishment has consequences for patients, practitioners, trainees, and significant others. The good news is that we have presenters to provide insight and practical strategies to both recognize and address wellness issues.

This year we are rolling out an updated format for the poster sessions and Doctor’s Dilemma® competition. The Governor’s Dinner promises to be a true celebration of the chapter’s accomplishmentsand will serve as a spring board for another truly productive year.

We look forward to your participation. Tucson is undeniably delightful in October, and we hope to seeyou then!

Sincerely,

Eugene Trowers, MD, MPH, FACP2017 Program Chair
