Potential Value of BPM in Sasol
• Process driven approach from Blueprint to Implementation to Monitoring• One front-end for the SAP Module Consultant in Solution Manager
Synchronization of Blueprint to Solution ManagerLink from Solution Manager to IMGGraphical View of ARIS Business Process in SAP Solution Manager
• Monitoring and Measurement within context of Business Process• Bi-directional traceability of changes between ARIS and SAP Solution
Manager• Process Driven specification of the functionality required in SAP XI
Recommendations
Manage ExpectationsTechnically no specific product related problems were identified and it is thuspossible to extend the Sasol BPM method to include the Solution Managerand SAP XI BPM related functionality BUTThe process dictates the level of BPM that is feasibleKeep in mind the complexity in setting up the BPMConsider the tedious compilationThe default SAP content in SAP Solution Manager is still immature in certainareas
RecommendationsTool based method (Consider tool constraints and licenses)Process driven approach (Start with business process in ARIS)Keep ARIS content closely synchronized with Solution ManagerDetail “know-how” to be documented as part of Roadmap in SolutionManager

Next Steps
• Confirm extended Sasol BPM Method and CapabilityRoles and responsibilities: SEAT and SAP Module ConsultantsLicenses and upgrade to ARIS 7 environmentSynchronization of Process view vs. Scenario viewSynchronization of SAP only or SAP and non-SAP processes stepsNaming standards to identify macro process and process groups in SolutionManagerConsider usage of SAP recommended symbol in ARIS
• Areas for further investigation: training, testing, authorizations, masterdata, organization structure, Solution Manager generated Blueprint vs.BCD
• Document “know-how” as part of Solution Manager Roadmap• Synchronize Sasol Baseline to Solution Manager
Summary
• The objective of the “SAP Solution Manager as Part of BPM” initiativewas to evaluate the ARIS, SAP Solution Manager and SAP XI BPMfunctionality and integration.
• The ARIS, Solution Manager and SAP XI BPM functionality andintegration is technically stable.
• A process driven approach is the key for the integration.• The maturity of the process driven approach within a BU will impact the
level of BPM that is feasible.• From a Management of Change perspective there is value in the
integration from Blueprint to Implementation to Monitoring.• BPM is also about monitoring, measurement and optimization and the set
of products provide functionality to be exploit.• Governance is critical to manage the usage of the functionality.
