Boulder Co. Launching Rape-Kit

• Boulder County will continue their reputation of being an amazingly progress city with the launch of a program that will offer sexual assault forensic exams starting by April 1, 2015, which will make it easier to prosecute rape.

• The District Attorney Stan Garnett made the announcement that the sexual assault forensic exams plan to be be offered at Boulder’s Foothills Hospital in a community partnership. The exams, which are also known as SANE exams aka rape kits, will also be available 24 hours a day at the emergency room.

• The Boulder County Commission has approved the funding for this specialized medical equipment.

• Boulder Community Health is also providing the exam rooms at Foothills Hospital. CU has agreed to provide nearly $150,000 for SANE nurse training over the next three years.
