arete have been appointed as head contractor for the Royal Melbourne Hospital PET Expansion project, a 500sqm internal fit out for the Hospitals Nuclear Medicine Department.

PET is used routinely for the staging, treatment selection, and planning and therapeutic response assessment for many cancer types; however, PET/CT is also expected to have an increasing role in clinical cardiology and other systemic diseases.

The Japara healthcare project involved renovating 126 aged care rooms including bathrooms, kitchens and communal living spaces. The fundamental goal being to complete all refurbishments whilst neighbouring rooms remained occupied by residence. arete worked with management to ensure there would be as little intrusion on the residents and their guests as possible, whilst the project progressed. Noisy works in the building were kept to a minimum, with all cutting and loud fabrication being conducted away from site, further reducing the impact on residence. A focus on resident satisfaction was key to the successful completion of these works. Refurbishment of existing rooms in aged care facility, floors 1 through 5, including painting and joinery works. Required staging works, dependant on patients being allocated new rooms as works were completed.

This project comprises four major components: Green Room, Neutral Printing Room, News Room, teaching spaces spread across three levels. The 60sqm Neutral Printing Room is the first milestone of this project. The masterpiece of this room is the special lighting boxes, integrated with magnetic boards, which can be calibrated to present the actual photos as seen as on computer screen. The news room on level 3 uses the high-end designer furniture and full services coordination to support the room purpose for news recording. The room has to meet certain acoustic requirements and the services here are fully integrated to Deakin e-solution service. On the same levels are some teaching spaces that use the latest AV technology, which enrich the teaching and learning experiences. The name is self-explanatory, the green room is located in level 2. This room requires special finishes installation on the walls and floors to conceal the corners of walls and floors.

Spread over two floors arete were engaged to reinvent the previously dark office space into a vibrant, new staff office space. High level of finish detail throughout this proejct including Ampelite screens, custom fabricated acoustic baffels, timber veneer wall and ceiling panels and a custom arrangement of feature lighting.

arete has been engaged by the University of Melbourne to undertake the Melbourne School of Engineering Level 3 Building 177 fitout at their Parkville Campus. This floor will be used a student workspace and will become the prototype for the future fitout of the remaining levels.

This fitout consists of large collaborative space and offices running down the centre of the floor plan. The space will be complimented by a vast joinery package with hand laminated timber veneer finishes and wal panelling to match. The floor will be crowned the American Oak furniture and beautiful Corian bench tops to the breakout spaces.

Building HE – Level 2 is the new Student Central area in Deakin Burwood Campus.

This student central is the highlight in Burwood Campus and will become the new face of Deakin as the design is the benchmark for the future projects. The project presents full services coordination between the front and the back house. It also gives birth to Ask Watson desk, which will give fresh experience to students who seek for consultation. This project also includes the upgraded services zone with private, semi-private consultation points, meeting rooms and offices and refurbished staff areas at the back house. The original scope of the project was finished within 2 months, because of great coordination between site personnel, office and the stakeholders of the project.

The Melbourne University Food Sensory & Meat Testing facility is the integrated fitout of 600sqm. The fitout includes the installation of sandwich panel Cold Rooms, Freezer Rooms, and a Commercial Kitchen. Testing facilities include briefing and group tasting rooms that can be combined through operable walls with the Sensory Laboratory. Separate meat testing, Anteroom, Dry Lab Cold and Freezer Room for the Meat Laboratory completes the floor plan.

The Sensory Laboratory includes individual testing pods with integrated pass through hatches from servery areas for individual trials and assessments. The individual pods include integrated pass throughs form the servery and ipod arms for Question and Answer during testing sessions. Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, stainless steel benches and full vinyl floors complete the PS2 equivalent standards. All works will be constructed to suit the stringent requirements of Melbourne University.

Site was initially a Sports Gym located in the Physiotherapy Department, that required asbestos removal and plenty of make good. The building site was refurbished / Fit-out as 3x Training Rooms for Physiotherapy teaching. The fit-out included a structural steel frame that supported the ceiling, new Services, Joinery, Surface finishes and internal partitions. Extensive make good to internal surfaces outside of scope was conducted to ensure the new training rooms appeared presentable to the university.
