Feria de Universidades El pasado 19 de agosto de 2010 se llevó a cabo la quinta Feria de Universidades Rodriguísta, la cual contó con la presencia del Edil Ivan ,representantes del sector comercial de Fontibón, orientadoras ,directivas , docentes del colegio y la participación activa de los estudiantes visitantes de los colegios Villemar el Carmen, Internacional, Carlo Federicci y Pablo Neruda. Felicitaciones a los estudiantes de los grados Undécimo por su trabajo en equipo y compromiso institucional y social.

CONVIVENCIA Y APRENDIZAJE “ La convivencia y el aprendizaje se condicionan mutuamente y la interrelación de los actores de la institución estudiantes docentes y padres ¿por qué no? deben construirse cotidianamente “. Es muy interesante esta reflexión del Lic. Norberto Ianni (Argentino) que nos hace mirar nuestro contexto y reconocer que es una realidad que a pesar de los tiempos difíciles por los que transcurrimos , no esta tan alejada de nuestras aulas ; vivo ejemplo de ello es el grado 1002 que nos hace sentir orgullosos por las ganas y el empeño que le impregnan a su aprendizaje ..Felicitaciones por demostrar que si se puede convivir y aprender. 1002 marcando la diferencia La convivencia en el aula es una parte fundamental en los procesos y los espacios educativos y por medio de este periódico queremos felicitar a los estudiantes y director de curso de este grado por ser especial. We would like all the community at School Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt to know what teachers of Proyect ¨LEO¨ are doing in order to get better the educational process for students. One of the most important activity we did last August 27 was ¨LEO EXHIBITION¨. Firstly, the students of the morning time had been reading interest tales, poetry and novels with their teachers. Besides, they performed and made up the main characters according to their personal understanding , and the teacher´s explanation. Also students visited the 23rd BOOK FAIR , with the theme: Bicentennial of the Independence of Colombia, and enjoyed many activities there. They knew some special writers and got their signatures. By using these experiences, students made cardboards and beautiful advertisements.

We did like and enjoyed so much the exhibition at school because there was lots of fun contests for each level. For example, the younger kids heard short stories, tales, poems, riddles and fables, and the bit older children participated in ¨STAR REACH¨ contest or in an English ¨MATCH GAME¨ that teachers prepared for them. OUR WORK ON THE PROYECT ¨LEO¨

This experience began from the analysis of Stdents´Learning Styles and the need to promote the Learning and Practice of the foreign Language in students from tenth and eleventh grades. Some metacognitive strategies were carried out in the third term with specific exercises such as posters, show- following instructions in class, coloring pumpkins, completing diagrams, etc..., getting good results. Students were more motivated and showed a general improvement and self-confidence in oral production and Maria Bortluzzi in Forum magazine says:

“Nowadays we recognize the importance of the foreign language used in class from school subject into a medium for authentic and motivating communication. This transformations means not only using the language for task that entail authentic communicative exchanges ,but also as a tool for self-expression and creativity”. With all material collected from these sorts of activities, students had to use computers to condense report their experiences in our

institution through the creation of blogs. These blogs condense some specif ic topics : Our School, Universitiy fair, Book fair, Cross curricular projects and so on. Students from eleventh grade were developing activities for the Icfes exam reporting their score from Web pages given to review themes too. The use of the web and technologies as a resource can help to improve students’ autonomy and collaboration. In this process, both, teachers and students learn. The final product is to continue with the second edition of the “ Rodrigo Arenas Virtual Magazine 2010.”
