  • What is SPTC?

    The SPTC is a U.S. Department ofTransportation Region 6 Regional UniversityTransportation Center. The Center wasestablished in 2013 based on an award from theU.S. Department of Transportation's Researchand Innovative Technology Administration(RITA) to conduct a multidisciplinary programof transportation research, education, andtechnology transfer.

    The SPTC’s mission is to developcomprehensive, cost-effective andimminently implementable solutions tocritical infrastructure-related issuesfacing the transportation systems ofthe region and the nation, whilepreparing transportation professionalsfor leadership roles in technical andresearch careers in support of thenation’s infrastructure.

    • to develop comprehensive, cost-effective, and imminentlyimplementable solutions to critical infrastructure-related issues facingthe transportation systems of the region and the nation,

    • to prepare transportation professionals for leadership roles inprofessional and research careers in support of the nation’stransportation systems.

  • • Annual budget of $2.6 Million from the U.S. Department ofTransportation and dollar-for-dollar match by non-federal sources.

    • Climate Adaptive Transportation and Freight Infrastructure is theprimary focus of SPTC’s research, education and workforce goals.
