Dear Friends,
It is a matter of immense pleasure to invite you in “National
Conference on „‟Recent trends in Management of Anorectal
Disorders” & in the Pre-conferenc Workshop on ”Advanced
Training of Ksharsutra Therapy” organized by Department of
Shalya Tantra, Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sci-
ences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on 9thto 11th
Nov.2017.
Surgery was practiced in India and in this very city of Kashi
since the time of Divodas Dhanwantari & was further lead by
Sushruta. Sushruta samhita is considered as the first surgical
literature of all the time & Sushruta is considered as one of the
earliest surgeons of the recorded history. His contributions to
surgery are well recognized for his innovative method used in
variety of surgical and parasurgical modalities like reconstruc-
tive surgery of chopped nose & ear lobules Rhinoplasty, Extra
Capsular Lens Extraction in Cataract, extraction of urinary
stones, closer of intestinal perforation, Anal and Dental surger-
ies etc.
Though the surgical society has evolved with time and moved
into advanced modalities but the basic concepts of surgery de-
scribed by Sushruta in ancient golden period of Ayurveda are
still applicable and relevant in this era.
During post independent period this discipline has further
developed by the continuous efforts made by eminent legend
like Prof P J Deshpandey & his colleague Dr P S Sankaran ,
Prof L M Singh, Prof G C Prasad , Prof K R Sharma & Prof M
Sahu at Banaras Hindu University. They have contributed
immensely to develop this discipline and the department be-
come torch bearer in field of Ayurveda.
This proposed conference is focused to exchanged the ideas
on a common platform. Though our main focus will be on to
discuss various recent modalities being used or developing for
the treatment of anorectal disorders along with advances in
ksharsutra therapy & to broadly discuss on various issues re-
lated to surgical practices in Ayurveda , recent advances and
researches in the field.
Kashi as the oldest heritage city of the world showed the path
of spiritual light of Vedas, music, art, medicine, knowledge
and cultural heritage since pre-historic era & it still continues
to be a religious and educational centre of India having four
Universities and a dozen of Gurukuls . We are looking forward
to welcome you in the holy city Varanasi.
