- Long term charter of a fleet of 8 seismic vessels:

• Long term charter of seven modern 3D high-end vessels, of which four are to be delivered in 2013, 2014 and 2015

• One ice-class 2D vessel

OFFSHORE TOWED SEISMIC SURVEY OPERATIONS

2D – Single streamer and single source 3D – Multiple streamers, and normally dual source Streamers can be up to 12km long Multi-streamer vessels can tow up to 14streamers with 100m separation

WHY DO WE OPERATE IN THE ARCTIC

• The different nations present in the Arctic want to map the seafloor

• Initial search for hydrocarbons

• Speculative companies want to invest in seismic data in case of future openings

• A higher demand for oil and gas

• The environmental conditions seem to be improving together with resources more developped

HOW DO WE OPERATE IN THE ARCTIC – PREPARATIONS

Before any project, we are required to do some preparations to avoid compromising on health, safety and environmental concerns. Below are a few keywords:

• Project Risk Assessment/HAZID

• Medical Emergency Response Plan(MERP)

• Project HSE plan

• Emergency Notification Charts

• Logistics plan

• Insurance

• Environmental Impact Assessment

• Ice forecast

HOW DO WE OPERATE IN THE ARCTIC – SUPPORT

• Icebreaker

HOW DO WE OPERATE IN THE ARCTIC – EXECUTION

So, how is it done?

Today, only 2D is done in the ice infested areas, 3D is done during summer when no ice is present

For 2D and when heading in to the ice, all gear is submerged and goes below the Ice. The seismic vessel is modified to pull the gear down immediately behind the seismic vessel
